Follow your senses…
Here you will find ideas for activities from different themes. Each of the following
programs is designed to make the perfect three or four days in the rainbow capital. By
selecting your favorite senses, you can create your very own Stockholm experience.
See - Antiques & Vintage
Seeing is believing. So don’t just take our word for it, discover the beauty of Stockholm
with your own eyes. From ancient Vasa to the green valleys and dense pine forest of the
Woodland Cemetery. From the beer sticky and rocking floor on the party boat Patricia to
the flowing champagne at Operakällaren.
Hear – Arts & Culture
If a tree falls in the forest you’re bound to hear it – because in Stockholm nature is ever
present. But if there ever was a sound that represents Stockholm, it would be the sound
of rushing water.
Feel – Romance
Breathtaking naked statues stretch towards the skies in an oasis just north of Stockholm.
There is something about Millesgården that is downright romantic and somewhat erotic.
Just like a winter stroll through Old Towns cobblestone alleyways, where the houses
leans in on the pedestrians, or a sunny lukewarm walk along the city’s quays and
bridges, with someone you fancy at your side.
Taste – Pink Christmas
Stockholm turns into something out of a faeries/fairy tale during Christmas time. Markets
at every street corner, the taste of mulled wine and gingerbread on your lips and the
smell of honey roasted almonds and Christmas tree wherever you go. But most
important: Stockholm gay community’s much anticipated celebration of Pink Christmas.
Touch – Design
Some say that the success of Swedish design is due to focus on clean, cool and
innovative forms that appeal to people all over the world. Find out for yourself. From
Berns Hotel, the chic art deco boutique property that calls itself the ‘Designer Hotel for
people tired of designer hotels’ to the flagship stores of brands such as Efva Attling, Acne
and Cheap Monday.
STOCKHOLM GAY & LESBIAN NETWORK
In order to attract the LGBT segment, a destination has to subscribe to three core values:
openness, diversity and respect. Stockholm is a city which features all three, and it was on
the basis of these values that the Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network was formed. The
Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network is a project within Stockholm Visitors Board which works
to market and develop Stockholm as an interesting and attractive destination.
The Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network functions as a network-based partnership
cooperating closely with the travel industry in Stockholm and special interest organizations.
The network started in 2005 and works in three year cycles. The project is also responsible
for www.visitstockholm.com/gay-lesbian, organizes educational tours for the travel trade
and the media, advertises in targeted media, carries out PR work and participates in fairs,
travel shows and events.
