February 25 Luke 22:1-23 At the Table March 4 Luke 22:24-46 At the Mount March 11 Luke 22:47-71 At the Courtyard

Lenten Devotionals Lent is a time to renew our spiritual disciplines. With the Let’s Grow Into Lent mobile, young children and their families will count down the days until Jesus’ glorious resurrection by adding a new piece to the mobile each day. A daily activity suggestion and Scripture passage are included. In Led by Christ: Action Begins in the Heart, older children and their families will gather in prayer as the booklet helps to deepen the experience of Lent, so that you will rejoice all the more fully at Jesus’ triumph over death on Easter Sunday. Adults will en-joy A Wondrous Love. Two of the most widely-read and respected spiritual writers of the 20th century, Henri Nouwen and C. S. Lewis, are brought together in the Lenten daily devotional booklet. They offer their deeply personal insights, understanding and pastoral sensitivity for the holy season of Lent. The devotionals are available outside Jack’s Place or in the gathering space.

March 18 Luke 23:1:25 At the Courthouse March 25 Luke 23:26-38 At the Cross April 1 Luke 23:39-56 At the End

Think Piece

Let’s think for a moment about various times of our lives. Junior High, when energy is high and mistakes come often. Birth of our first child, when hopes are high and the future looks bright. Death of our parents, when death faces us squarely and we think more deeply about our own deaths. There are various times in our lives. So it is with each year. Summer and time to think about lakes and meadows and vacations. Fall when we think about back to school and the return of weekly responsibilities. Vacation is over!

This week begins our Lenten season. A time for reflection and pondering. What does God have for me? Where will I spend my eternity? Why did God take such major action in sending His Son among us? What have we done to deserve such love? How should we respond to such love? In our Lenten groups (it’s not too late to join one) and in our worship, we ponder questions like these. It’s cold and snowy, but hope abounds. Our hope for spring and our hope for an eternity with God and a present filled with mean-ingful Christ-centered living.

Join us in this season of our year.

In Christ,

Pastor Mitchell

LENT

Are you giving something up for Lent? God gave up His Son for us because of His tremendous love for us. Our decision to fast from a certain food or technology, or whatever it may be, is one way we can show our love for our Father as we re-member the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us!

THERE’S AN OLD SAYING…

A penny saved is a penny that will sit around in a jar for five years.

I think the expression “It’s a small world” is really a euphemism for “I keep running into peo-ple I can’t stand.”

Where there’s a will, there’s a relative.

A watched pot never boils, but it does get para-noid.
