Restaurant Brands International, owner of Burger King and Tim Hortons, has agreed to acquire Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen for $79 per share, representing a 19.5% premium to the share price on the day before the announcement.

Popeyes is one of the world’s largest quick service restaurant concepts with over 2,600 restaurants in 26 countries, approximately 97% of which are franchised.

The acquisition will allow RBI to leverage its global scale and resources to continue developing the Popeyes brand at an increasing pace.
