A food chain is a linear sequence of links in a food web starting from species that are called producers in the web and ends at species that are called decomposers in the web. Everything in the world requires energy! Walking down the street, riding your bicycle and

learning in school all take energy We get this energy through eating, or consuming, plants or animals as food. Think about how you feel after you've eaten.

You feel better because your body has taken in energy!

Because every plant or animal does this, chains of these creatures are formed. These chains are

called food chains

Effect humans on food chain

All the animals will die. If the producer in a habitat dies , the herbivores will have nothing to eat and will die .The predators also having nothing to eat will die. If the predator dies, the herbivores will increase in number. But the producer cannot produce enough to feed all herbivores. Thus, they will all die. . This means all animals depend on each other for a complete food chain or food web.

It is a biologically known fact, that right since the first living organism breathed for the first time billions of years ago, it needed food. Food is something without which growth, development and evolution would have been impossible. Every living thing on the face of the earth, irrespective of plants and animals, need nutrition to survive, grow and reproduce. All the living things on earth are therefore, dependent on each other for survival in some way or the other and that is what we call the Ecosystem. The food chain in nature includes both plants and animals who are a part of it and even the tiniest ecosystem has a food chain for itself.
