Digestion (continued)• After your mouth breaks the food into smaller pieces, it
will go down your throat and into your stomach• Once the food gets into your stomach, acids and other
enzymes help further break food down into usable parts

Digestion… some more• After the food has gone through the stomach,
it is sent to the small intestine• The small intestine is used to sort out the
proteins, sugars, fats, etc. from anything that isn’t useful for the body
• After the small intestine sorts out everything, it sends the waste to the large intestine, who packs it all up and gets it ready to leave the body
