FSAS aimed to provide a guide to Local Authorities detailing current Food and Feed Law applicable in Scotland. We would like to thank those that took part in the project and took the time to provide feedback to help us develop the guide in a format that was as useful as possible.

2014 The Jam and Similar Products (Scotland) Regulations 2014 The aim is to review the Jam and Similar Products (Scotland) Regulations 2004 and reduce the soluble solids content (i.e. sugar level) in order to bring the Regulations in line with changes made in some other European countries. The draft domestic Regulations for the four UK countries were notified to the Commission in December for a scrutiny period of 3 months, Due to concerns raised by the Commission this standstill period has been extended to 6 months, ending 3 June 2014. Defra to reconsider the way forward.

The Natural Mineral Water, Spring Water and Bottled Drinking Water (Scotland) Regulations 2015

These Regulations are to be revised, updated and consolidated with their four subsequent amendments into a single SSI. The intention is to also to include EU requirements on the monitoring of radioactivity in drinking water (not natural mineral water). We now intend to consult in the first quarter of 2015 and expect the new consolidated regulations to come into force in November 2015.

13 December The Fish Labelling (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2014 To revise Scottish regulations to reflect changes in EU The fourth chapter of 2014 legislation and the additional consumer information

requirements that they introduce. These rules extend the existing requirement to show consumers where or whether fish were caught or farmed, and the species, by including information on the equipment used to catch the fish, and the date of minimum durability.

Regulation (EU) No 1379/2013 of the European Parliament and the Council, enacted on 11 December 2013.

These changes are mandated by Regulation (EU) number 1379/2013, which amends Council Regulations (EC) No 1184/2006 and (EC) No 1224/2009 and repeals (replaces) Council Regulation (EC) No 104/2000. The new Regulation (Article 46) stipulates that all references to Council Regulation (EC) No 104/2000 shall be read as referring to 1379/2013. Furthermore, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 1420/2013 repeals Commission Regulation (EC) No 2065/2001 of 22 October 2001. However, no changes have been made to Regulation (EU) No 404/2011, which lays down detailed rules for the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009.
