These tools rely on innovative technology MIR (mid-infrared), rapid DNA sequencing and image recognition processes and use cutting-edge devices and smartphone apps to connect farmers to reliable soil and crop databases.

Learn about the benefits of micro-algae for the human body Visit Wageningen UR’s algae pilot facility to learn about microalgae. Microalgae are a promising, sustainable source of food, biofuel and paint. But how do you culture enough of them? AlgaePARC is experimenting with four state-of-the-art hatchery systems to answer some fundamental questions, including: Which system yields the most biomass? Which system is economically soundest? Which system is most environmentally sustainable?

AlgaePARC is a large multidisciplinary research program incorporating the entire microalgae process chain. The economic and sustainability assessment of the entire chain is the basis for the research program, which includes both biological and engineering aspects of algae cultivation and biorefinery. The Restaurant of the Future is a unique blend of research and practice aimed at something as common as eating and drinking. It is not just a place to experiment with new food products, preparation methods and self-service systems, but also a facility allowing close observation of consumer eating and drinking behavior. Visit one of Europe’s top forensic food safety and fraud laboratories Learn how this laboratory is able to prove abuse of natural hormones; how it can distinguish between chocolate from Africa and Latin America; and how we know when an animal has been given antibiotics during its growth period.

RIKILT is both a National Dutch Reference Laboratory and an EU Reference Laboratory, as well as a food safety research institute. RIKILT has often served as a forensic laboratory for the Dutch and foreign governments following food safety incidents. It continues to further improve food quality and safety by developing innovative test methods and conducting effect research.
