Merchant Marine won the first four meengs, including the inaugural showdown in 1962, 7-0. Over the past four seasons, the Statesmen have evened the slate, outscoring their conference rivals 147-43. ABOuT LAST WEEK—Hobart was off last Saturday. Over the past 10 years, the States- men are 6-3 with an extra week to prepare for their next opponent (there was no off week in 2007). Hobart had an extra seven days to prepare for its trip to Merchant Ma- rine in 2006. The Statesmen won that game 30-19 behind the 214-yard rushing day of DOuG BLAKOWSKI ’07. BOunCE BACK—On Oct. 11, with a late field goal, Union gave Hobart its first loss of the season 38-35. The Statesmen have not lost consecuve games in a season since 2003. That year, Ithaca and St. John Fisher sent Ho- bart to back-to-back defeats in November. The Statesmen haven’t lost consecuve con- ference game since 1995. TOP TACKLER—Hobart’s top tackler in each of the season’s first five contests has been senior linebacker JuSTIn HAGER. In fact, he’s led the Statesmen in tackles in 10 con- secuve games dang back to last season. Even more impressive, Hager has posted a game-high in tackles in nine straight games dang back to the 2007 campaign. THIS JuST-In—Speaking of JuSTIn HAGER, he leads the Liberty League and ranks sec- ond in the naon in tackles per game (14.0). Hager’s on pace to log 126 tackles this sea- son. That’s eight more than he recorded last season and only three shy of the season re- cord set by JESSE TRuLEy ’96 in 1995. TOP PICK—Like his jersey number, DRAKE WOODARD is No. 1 in the naon in inter- cepons. He has six picks already this year, recording two in each of Hobart’s two road games this season. Woodard’s on pace for 10.8 picks which would break the Hobart WHEn LAST WE MET—Oct. 13, 2007 GENEVA—Hobart sent vising Merchant Marine to its 13th consecuve loss with a 55-9 drubbing on Boswell Field. The Statesmen racked up 456 yards of offense, while liming the Mariners to 116, including minus 18 in the first half. WR James Wright caught five first half passes for 100 yards and two first quarter touchdowns to lead the way. On the ground, 10 different Hobart play- ers carried the ball with five different Statesmen finding the end zone.
