Frederica Lord University ScholarshipThis award is only open to students who receive financial support through a bursary or scholarship and who are pursuing a recognised course of academic study at one of the universities specified by the founder.

The scholarship is tenable for three years and has an annual value of £1,000.

February: schools and academies invited to submit entries.

Johnston Memorial ScholarshipThis award is only open to students who receive financial support through a bursary or scholarship and are intending to read law at university.

Previously the winning student has been awarded up to £2,500 over two years. The precise amount and duration is announced on an annual basis.

The award winner is also offered the opportunity to complete a week’s work experience with the Legal department at GDST Trust Office in London.

Lorna Cocking ScholarshipThis award is only open to students who receive financial support through a bursary or scholarship and who require help and support during the three years of an undergraduate degree to make the most of their time in higher education.

The scholarship is tenable for three years and has an annual value of £1,000.

February: schools and academies invited to submit entries.

GDST Minerva PrizeThis prize is awarded for all-round achievement and the winner is presented with a cheque for £500.

January: Heads invited to nominate one student.

Nomura GDST ScholarshipFor GDST students interested in a career in investment banking.

The scholarship secures one GDST student a place on Nomura’s highly competitive two-week Immersion internship programme during their first year of university studies. They will experience the exciting buzz of the City, participate in workshops, skills sessions and panel discussions, and gain support from mentors within the business.

A trophy and cheque will be presented at the school prize giving. Previously students have received £500.

December: schools and academies invited to submit entries. Please note this prize may vary each year.

GDST Travel ScholarshipsFor students intending to take a gap year or planning to travel in the summer before their university course.

October: schools and academies invited to submit entries.

Pearson and Silver AwardsFor students applying for financial assistance towards the cost of attending courses or carrying out projects with a classical content.

In 2014, seven students received an award between £250 and £350 each.

January: schools and academies invited to submit entries.

Somerville and Gurney Awards, incorporatingHenriette Dent and Dame Kitty AndersonThis award is only open to students who receive financial support through a bursary or scholarship.

Students sit a two-and-a-quarter hour general essay exam paper. The first prize is £500, the second £300 and the third £200. Honourable mentions may also be awarded.

March: examination details sent to schools and academies.

For Year 13 studentsFor Year 10 studentsAnne Hogg Modern Foreign Languages PrizeFor students taking two or more modern foreign languages.

Students receive a school cup to acknowledge their achievement in excellence.

February: schools and academies invited to submit entries.

For Year 11 studentsThe Chrystall Prize for Public Speaking Students speak for up to seven minutes on their allocated topic.

This is followed by questions from the audience for up to three minutes. The winner will receive a £100 book token and the runner up will receive a £50 book token.

March: Chrystall Prize Final.
