Development & Deployment

We use agile methodologies for iterative development, and close communication between the project team and the client.

When the product has been thoroughly tested and once it is ready for production release, we deploy the final code in sync with the client teams and the different stakeholders. We integrate your product with your existing systems, or assist your teams in doing so.We perform the necessary system health checks to ensure the product is running smoothly.

Step 2

Once the project is confirmed for implementation, we gather a product engineering team, and assign both a dedicated project manager and a business lead.

Development Process 1/2

Our goal is to deliver what the customer wants, when the customer wants it.

SMALL RELEASE CYCLES (2-4 WEEKS)

We deliver in increments, actively seekingfeedback from stakeholders beforeproceeding.

TRANSPARENT DEVELOPMENT

At the beginning of a release cycle (sprint),you receive our planning with what is set tobe completed. At the end of it, you receive areport on what has been shipped.

AGILE REPORTING

A dedicated Product Owner will be yourdirect liaison with our dev team. His goal isto ensure the process stays on track even asconditions change.

DYNAMIC PRIORITIZATION

Our development backlog is reassessed atevery sprint to ensure the most urgentdemands are taken care of first.

By employing agile methodology, we focus on continuous releases, while incorporatingcustomer feedback with every iteration.

This means we develop code at a fast pace and are extremely quick to respond to changes

WE CAN EXECUTE

ON-PREMISE or CLOUD DEPLOYMENT

Your infrastructure can be hosted on-premise, or its management can be taken care of by our teams.

A/B TESTING DEPLOYMENTThis method allows us to perform A/B Testing since it can route n% of your users to the Green and n% of your users to the Blue.

CANARY RELEASE

The Canary Release is a pattern which allows us to put a small segment of your users on the N+1 version. The remaining slice will temporarily remain on version N. This allows us to test if all is well before deploying to all users.

We deploy code following the Blue Green Deployment methodology. This ensures our deployments are carried while never interrupting your services.

By leveraging this concept from Zero Downtime

Deployment (ZDD), our team can ship regular upgrades in a

transparent and quasi-instantaneous manner.

iExec has already developed the building blocks and components that make up our Technology Stack. This allows us to develop fast on top of these elements, rather than

from scratch.

The following use cases leverage the iExec Technology Stack to solve real-world problems.

Decentralized Marketplace for Cloud Computing

Use Cases

A decentralized cloud infrastructure operating autonomously and connecting buyers and sellers of cloud computing.

Trust in a 5G/Smart City EnvironmentA decentralized infrastructure to manage autonomous robot services through smart contracts, and to establish reliable links between the blockchain and physical items.

Privacy-Preserving Medical Data SharingA decentralized infrastructure to allow research labs to run applications on private patient data owned by hospitals. Thanks to TEE technology, this data remains confidential and is never leaked.

Use Case Decentralized Marketplace for Cloud Computing

ProblemCurrently, access to cloud computing is fragmented. Because it is not considered a commodity, cloud users don’t have an easy access to a multi-cloud offer. The centralized cloud model has also many shortcomings: power imbalance, unfair pricing, obfuscation and low resilience.

SolutioniExec has turned cloud computing into a commodity, by launching a decentralized marketplace and offering a one-stop-shop to access all cloud providers.

Decentralization offers the following advantages● Buyers have the freedom to select any provider they wish (no

vendor lock-in)● Buyers have access to a variety of machines (CPU, GPU, TEE,

edge, green servers)● Providers freely determine their pricing (no marketplace

fees)Providers are guaranteed free and fair competition● Customized governance rules (token, incentives, payments) ● Blockchain ensures transparent monitoring and accounting

for all parties● The marketplace is powered by smart contracts (making it

autonomous and scalable)(1/2)

Page 19: For Entreprise · Why It Matters Where It's Going Blockchain ensures trust in business environments that are made up of a multitude of stakeholders. Making everything from supply

(2/2)

How we did it● This was an R&D-heavy and a 3-year roadmap project● 25 people (blockchain devs, devops, UX/UI, architects, cloud experts, product

managers)● Agile methodology with 2-week sprints and semi-yearly major releases (V1 to

V5)● Raised 12 millions to conduct the project● Created the 1st French cryptocurrency (RLC is a utility token for cloud

computing)● Worked closely with the French Government and the AMF (French SEC) on a

legal framework for crypto-assets● Onboarded thousands of users (developers, cloud providers, data centers)

Success storyThe infrastructure developed by iExec has allowed EDF (fifth-largest utility company worldwide) to run simulations on the GPU machines of Genesis Cloud (low-cost datacenter located in Iceland and Kazakhstan).

Running its compute-intensive applications on a decentralized cloud allows EDF to better manage its peak loads of computing power and have a complete immutable trail record of executions.

Use Case Trust in a 5G/Smart City Environment

ProblemTrust is key to the success of smart cities.Stakeholders must trust the city, its services and service providers, as well as trust each other. It’s the necessary condition for people to use these services, participate and contribute input and data.If trust is not present and if these services are not used, the value of a smart city declines. Therefore, a well-functioning smart city must design trust into its policies and processes right from the outset.

SolutioniExec solves the trust issue in smart cities by providing an infrastructure that supports machine-to-machine transactions and autonomous services.

This infrastructure

Allows participants to order services

Certifies that these services have been well-executed by machines at the edge

Ensures governance rules are perfectly respected

Provides proof on an immutable ledger of orders and payments

Success storyAt Mobile World Congress, iExec, Intel and ShanghaiTech University showed how developers can combine IoT devices and 5G networks with blockchain technology, to help people, machines and sensors interact for a specific purpose.

The purpose of this particular use case is search and rescue by robots. This smart city service is coded using smart contracts and deployed on Ethereum using the iExec SDK. The smart contract then registers all the service-providing robots along with the type of services they perform (such as AI navigation services or rescue).

If another robot or a human needs this service, they can scan the smart contract to find the nearest robot able to perform the task, and order its services. Once an event takes place that has been predetermined to signal the task’s end, iExec is able to signal it to the blockchain, thus marking the task “completed.” Finally, the robot’s operator/owner gets automatically paid.

In this use case, iExec ensures trust between participants by certifying that real world events have happened and unlocking related payments.

Overall, the aim of this collaboration was to bring blockchain to the growing Internet of Things by not only applying smart contracts to off-chain assets, but also establishing “reliable links” between the blockchain and those physical items.

Use Case Trust in a 5G/Smart City Environment

Page 22: For Entreprise · Why It Matters Where It's Going Blockchain ensures trust in business environments that are made up of a multitude of stakeholders. Making everything from supply

Use Case Privacy-preserving Medical Data Sharing

ProblemHuge amounts of medical data are left unexploited, out of fear of data leaks. If harnessed, these valuable pools of data could become a new source of revenues, and create knowledge that will decrease healthcare costs.

SolutioniExec organizes the different stakeholders of this use case in a consortium. Hospitals are the data providers, while Research Labs are the data requesters.By leveraging Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) technology, iExec solves the trust issue of data sharing.

Hospitals are able to sell or share their data while keeping ownership of their assets. They can control who can run computations and algorithms on their data, and TEE technology guarantees that this data never gets revealed to the purchasing parties. Indeed, Research Labs are only be able to download the result of their computations.

Thanks to the blockchain, governance rules are enforced by smart contracts, and data transactions can be audited by selected third parties.

This data renting paradigm made possible by iExec guarantees that patient data will remain confidential, and has the power to unlock the next wave of healthcare innovation.
