This musical has twelve cast members, six ensemble members and a seven-piece band. There are six cast members to make their debut at American Stage; Jessica Kahkoska* (Nina Rosario), Marquez Linder* (Benny), Justin Gregory Lopez* (Usnavi De La Vega), Anthony Murphy (Piragua Guy), Christie Prades* (Vanessa), Melanie Souza* (Abuela Claudia). All six ensemble members are making their debut at American Stage; Ellis Endsley, Erica Goldman, Kathryn Huxtable, Shakerra Livingston, Chad Mueller, and Sir Brock Warren.

American Stage is excited to bring many familiar faces back to stage for this year’s American Stage in the Park. Six cast members returning are Jorge Acosta* (Kevin Rosario), Jesse Carolan-Rodriguez* (Sonny), Renata Eastlick* (Daniela), Susan Haldeman* (Camilla Rosario), Rodner Salgado (Graffiti Pete), and Ericka Womack-Brown (Carla).

The seven-piece band consists of the following: Joel Del Cueto (Percussion), Joe Grady (Bass), Joseph Offner (Trombone), Dave Pate (Saxophone), Burt Rushing (Drums), Michael Smith (Trumpet), and Paul Stoddart (Guitar)

Karla Hartley will be the Director for In the Heights. She previously directed The Wiz. J. P Kavenaugh

is the Musical Director for this production, Domenic Bisesti is the Choreographer, Steve Mitchell# is the

Scenic Designer, Mike Wood# is the Lighting Designer, Jerid Fox is the Property Designer and Set

Dresser, and Bruce Trice is the Sound Designer. Costume Designer is Saidah Ben-Judah. Our

Production Stage Manager is Rachel Harrison* and the Assistant Stage Manager is Garry Allan Bruel*.

The Director

Karla Hartley (Director) is currently the Producing Artistic Director for Stageworks Theatre in Tampa's Channel District. She received a BFA in Theater Studies from Boston University in 1992 and is the winner of two Theater Tampa Bay awards for “Best Director”. She was named Best Director 2009, 2012 and 2014 in the Creative Loafing Best of the Bay Awards as well as The Artist Most Likely to Have Been Born on the Planet Krypton. Directing credits include: Greetings, Ladies at the Alamo (Boston), The Seahorse, Christmas With Elvis, Girl Detective, Cut the Ribbons (Florida tour), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Always, Patsy Cline, The Goat or Who is Sylvia?, The Mystery of Irma Vep, Jewtopia, Hats! Jorge Acosta* (Kevin Rosario) is thrilled to return to American Stage. In the park, Acosta was part of Loves Labour’s Lost (Armado), The Taming of the Shrew (Sly) and The Pirates of Penzance (Assistant Stage Manager). On the mainstage Jorge was Che Che in Anna in the Tropics and directed 9 Parts of Desire. In the lobby cabaret, Havana to Hell’s Kitchen. Other Tampa Bay appearances include The Frogs at freeFall Theatre Company, The Men and Romeo and Juliet at Studio@620, Waiting for Godot, The Laramie Project, and The Fantastiks at Stageworks, Hamlet at Gorilla Theatre, and Y2K with Jobsite Theatre, as well as years of work with Spanish Lyric Theatre. Laramie Project. Jorge is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association (since 1986) and is very grateful for the opportunity of a life in the arts. Television credits include 30 Rock where he yelled at Tina Fey in Spanish (She yelled right back - also in Spanish), Los Garcia, and numerous commercials in both English and Spanish. Jorge dedicates this performance to the truly unforgettable Norman R. Glick. He loved theatre, opera, and all art, but more than that he loved people. I miss you my friend.

Jesse Carolan-Rodriguez* (Sonny) is a member of Actors Equity and has always been an entertainer. He has performed in many shows and independent films around the country. After living in the New York/New Jersey area his whole life, he is starting a new chapter and is happy to now call St. Petersburg his home. He performed in American Stage’s production of The Wiz last year and is excited to be back for another production with an amazing cast and crew. Some of his favorite roles have been Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Bernardo in West Side Story, Ali Hakim in Oklahoma and Robin in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Edinburgh, Scotland Fringe Festival. When he’s not on the stage performing, you can find him rocking the clubs and special events around the country as a Disc Jockey for JCR Entertainment.com. Finally he’d like to say a special thanks to his family and wife Sarah for always being there for inspiration and encouragement.

Renata Eastlick* (Daniela) is ecstatic to be returning to American Stage Theatre Company as a part of the In the Heights “familia”. Trained in musical theatre and classical performance at New World School of the Arts College, Renata has played roles from comic villains in musicals to leading ladies in Shakespeare. Last year, Renata was invited to present some of her work at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Monologue Intensive, coached by actor/director Kevin Spacey. When she is not on stage, you can catch her on re-runs of the critically acclaimed TV show Burn Notice, as Jack Coleman’s tech and on several national commercials including the new Macy’s Thalia Sodi Collection ad currently airing in Spanish on Univisión and other Spanish-language networks. Renata is a proud Silver Palm Award recipient (Outstanding New Talent), a two-time Carbonell Award Nominee (Best Supporting Actress in a Play) and a member of the Actors’ Equity Association. Marquez Linder* (Benny) is incredibly honored to be a part of American Stage Theatre Company and the cast of In The Heights. He is so privileged to be able to perform back in his hometown amongst his friends and family who have yet had the opportunity to see him on stage. Some of his favorite credits include Les Miserables at Theatre Winterhaven where he played Enjolras (a dream role of his), a featured Dancer in the TEXAS Outdoor Musical Drama in the Palo Duro Canyon, Mitch Mahoney in ...Spelling Bee and Macheath in The Threepenny Opera both of which were performed at his alma mater, the University of West Florida. In 2009 Marquez Graduated from the Pinellas county Center for the Arts at Gibbs High school with a focus in visual arts. He was and still is so honored to have won the Bravo award from the program and the Walker's Rising Stars Scholarship in his respective field. Afterwards, Marquez Earned his B.A. in Theatre from UWF where he studied costume design and ventured into the world of theatre. Marquez has never been one to be tied down to one particular form of art. He finds beauty and pleasure in all things and only wishes to explore those things. Creativity is incredibly special and sacred to him and makes up the very core of who he is. Upon completion of In the Heights, Marquez plans on moving out west to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of using art to make the world a more beautiful place. Marquez wishes to dedicate this and every subsequent performance to the five angels he gained during his time with TEXAS. Anthony Murphy (Piragua Guy) is excited to be making his American Stage debut with In The Heights. Christie Prades* (Vanessa) is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter, dancer, choreographer and actress originally from Miami, Florida. Dedicating all of her time to her music, Christie has worked in some of the most prestigious recording studios in Miami, having written, recorded, and produced songs of her own as well as those of other artists. Some of those studios include working with well-known producers of Studio Center in Miami as well as Power Entertainment in Atlanta, GA. Along with her music, Christie has been seen on national commercials including Taco Bell and Barry University, has been a part of award shows on Univision, Telemundo, and had also booked her first lead role in a SAG independent film titled “If You Only Knew” which received incredible reviews at the Sundance and Tribeca film festivals in California. Along with screen productions, Christie has also had a passion for musical theatre, and was a part of two extremely successful musicals, one being the lead role of Vanessa in In the Heights in Miami, which won “Best Musical” and “Best Music Production” at the 2014 South Florida Carbonell Awards. Soon after, she booked the lead role of Kate in The D*Word – Ditched, Dumped, Divorced and Dating, which showed in Las Vegas, Nevada and Orlando, Florida. Christie Prades continuously showcases her unique and colossal skills and interpretation of being an endowed talent throughout Miami as well as New York City, and is ready to take the music industry by storm. She cannot wait to relive the role of Vanessa once again at The American Stage theatre!

Rodner Salgado (Graffiti Pete) is thrilled to be back in Demens Landing playing in his second (and favorite) production with American Stage. Rodner graduated with a BA in Theatre and Dance from the University of Tampa and has since been working as a professional actor, director, dancer, and choreographer with the Bay's leading theatre venue. Regional credits include: The Wiz (American Stage), Hamlet (Tampa Rep.), Much Ado (Avant-Guardians @The Realto), and SexXx Dreams(Avant-Guardians @Station #3). As a Cuban immigrant himself, Rodner could not be more honored to share this story of real world struggles, tribulations, and everything that is magical to the characters of In the Heights. Rodner wants to thank Karla Hartley for this amazing opportunity, and to the cast and crew for their wonderful talents and professionalism. See you guys in el barrio!

Melanie Souza* (Abuela Claudia) is thrilled to be part of this amazing show. A native Rhode Islander who now calls Sarasota, FL home. Melanie has recently had the great pleasure to perform Social Security in Jacksonville, FL with the beautiful Barbara Eden. Favorite credits: My Fair Lady (Mrs. Higgins), Breaking Up is Hard to Do (Esther), 9 to 5 (Roz), The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Betty), 42nd Street (Maggie Jones), Stepping Out (Dorothy) and Gypsy (Mezeppa/Miss Cratchitt). Ericka Womack-Brown (Carla) is very excited to be returning for her second park show at American Stage Theater. A singer, dancer, and choreographer, Ericka has recently been seen in Momologues 2 (Caroline) at Stageworks, The Rocky Horror Show (Magenta) at American Stage Theater, Holiday Inc. (Elf/dancer) at the Straz and choreographed 9 to 5 at the Show Palace Theater. She has also performed and choreographed for various shows at Busch Gardens. Ericka would like to thank God for all the many blessings He continues to bring her way. She would also like to thank her biggest support system, her family. "Without my husband, mom, dad and brother I would not have had the courage to accomplish what I have done in my life, I love you all very much."

ENSEMBLE

Ellis Endsley (Ensemble) is so happy to make his American Stage debut in one of his favorite musicals. Ellis just completed his first season with Ballet Pensacola as a Solo Artist under the direction of Richard Steinert. Ellis previously danced with Milwaukee Ballet’s second company during their 2013-2014 season under the direction of Michael Pink. He was also a Trainee with Orlando Ballet (Robert Hill) as well as an apprentice with The Next Generation Ballet in Tampa (Peter Stark). Ballet Credits: Aladdin in Aladdin, Brom in The Headless Horseman, Bottom in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Harlequin and Russian in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet and Sleeping Beauty. Theatre Credits: Padamadan/Argitakos in Legally Blonde: The Musical, Daniel in Once On This Island, Gregor in Mame, and a Winged (Dancing) Monkey in The Wiz. Ellis is proud to share that he is a three-year cancer survivor and would like to credit his family, friends and his ballet families in Milwaukee and Orlando for standing by him through uncertain times.

Erica Goldman (Ensemble) is a BFA graduate of Florida Southern College, is making her debut performance with American Stage, after serving as the intern for Radio Golf. Favorite roles include Shiela (HAIR), Aldonza (Man of La Mancha), Nellie (Jekyll and Hyde), and Maria (Twelfth Night). Goldman spends her summers directing children's theatre all over the country. In her spare time, you'll find her playing the drums. Special thanks to Mom, Dad, and Alex for their unending support.

Kathryn Huxtable (ensemble) is very excited to be making her American Stage debut! Recent theatrical Credits include: Hairspray (Florida Studio Theatre), Millie (University of Tampa), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (University of Tampa), Wild Party (University of Tampa). Shakerra Livingston (Ensemble) was born and raised in New York City. She started dancing at the age of 8 at Rising Stars Dance Studio in Queens, New York and fell in love with performing. Shakerra has studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and classical Indian dance, and has competed in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Myrtle Beach. Shakerra majored in Dance at Franklin & Marshall College, where she developed her passion for dance performance and teaching and realized life wouldn't be the same without dance in it. She started the "On the Move" dance program for Reynolds Middle School while in college to help young girls feel confident in their own skin and find purpose for their lives. Shakerra is a devoted mother of two beautiful children and is more ready now than ever to use the gifts God gave her to pursue her dreams to dance each day like it is her last, lead a competition team of amazing young dancers and one day return to New York City to perform on Broadway. Chad Mueller (Ensemble) is so excited to be making his American Stage debut with In the Heights. He is a local Tampa Bay resident with a passion for the stage. Recent regional credits include: Crazy for You (Moose), The King and I (Phra Alack), Kiss Me Kate (ensemble) and Rocky Horror (phantom). Chad has also performed with Feld Entertainment in Disney Junior Live on Tour: Pirate and Princess Adventure. He is currently working with Busch Gardens Entertainment as a singer/actor in their Opening Night Critters show as well as a stilt walker and dancer in past seasons. Chad has also studied competition dance with local studios and choreographed and been on production boards for community theaters in the Tampa area. Favorite projects include: Hairspray (chorographer) and Shrek the Musical (costumer). Chad is also heavily involved with hair and makeup in the Bay area. He is a freelance artist with MAC Cosmetics and specializes in wedding and FX airbrushing makeup. Chad has had a love for theater his entire life and plans to continue in the industry as he moves to New York this fall. Much love to his friends and family for their love and support.

Sir Brock Warren (Ensemble) is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music Dance and Theater with a B.F.A in Dance and holds an arts diploma from the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School. His performing credits include Forces of Nature Dance Theater NY, Jennifer Muller/The Works NY, Oxygen Network, Busch Garden’s of Tampa Bay, Dundu Dolé Urban African Ballet and four seasons with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes. He recently received a grant funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, presented by Studio @ 620’s Project GenYes in which he created a show entitled “Journey to Greatness” that featured original music, choreography, script, an installation, and an ensemble of 22 vibrant artists including dancers, visual artists, a lyricist, music producers and an author. Sir Brock has choreographed for Hip Hop Legend MC Lyte, Haitian band Carimi, The Chocolate Nutcracker, Nutcracker Twist, and the official James Brown “Papa’s got a brand new bag” video on VEVO. He is currently choreographing for Pinellas County Center for the Arts, Howard W. Blake School of the Arts, and The Family Blessing at the Mahaffey Theater this fall. He has taught 3 residencies for the Angelina Ballerina Artist Residency Project in partnership with the Artz 4 Life Academy, and has released an EP of original music entitled Knight & Melody. He has also been featured on Middle Church Music’s “Welcome” album for social injustice on ITunes and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Entertainment Business at Full Sail University. This creator, art-maker, and force aims to serve the people through various mediums by enlightening them to the idea of creating a masterful life of infinite possibilities. Currently Clear Talent Group in New York, New York represents him.
