WHAT TO EXPECTWhen you come in for your initial visit with the dentist:

• Photographs of your teeth will be taken.

• You will be shown enhanced images of your smile to show you what you will look like with your new veneers.

• Impressions of your teeth will be taken.

A temporary set, also known as a “wax-up” set of veneers, will be made for the final veneers. After you are completely satisfied, a ceramist will make the final set and they will be bonded to your teeth on your final visit.

IS THERE ANY PAIN ASSOCIATEDWITH THE PROCEDURES?

After the porcelain veneers are attached, you will probably experience some sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures due to the removal of that thin layer of enamel. This typically disappears within a few days.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR VENEERSMaintaining porcelain veneers is actually quite simple. Treat them as you would your original teeth, with routine brushing and flossing. Using non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste will typically be suggested by your dental professional.

Although they are very strong, veneers are also brittle. You should avoid the same excessive stresses you would avoid with non-veneered teeth; such as, biting your fingernails, chewing ice, or opening beer bottles with your veneers!
