Refund Policy: If you cancel at least 72 hours in advance, we will refund your fee minus a $10 pro-cessing fee. If less than 72 hours notice is given, one-half of the fee will be refunded. No refund will be given if you do not notify us before the class or if you do not show up.

Reschedule Policy: We will reschedule your semi-nar one time for free if you call at least 72 hours in advance. There is a $10 fee each time you resched-ule after the first time, or if you give us less than 72 hours notice. No refunds or reschedules are processed after four months from initial receipt of fee.

For the Kids’ Sake: A Parenting Seminar

By order of Snohomish County Superior Court Local Rule, seminar attendance is mandatory for all parents/parties involved in divorce, pa-ternity or custody proceedings filed after Sep-tember 1, 1994.

For the Kids’ Sake seminars are provided through a contract with Snohomish County Superior Court to satisfy this mandatory re-quirement. Seminars are scheduled 3-4 times each month at two Snohomish County loca-tions.

The purpose of this seminar is to help parents understand how children are affected by sepa-ration and parental conflict. Seminar topics include:

How to protect my child from parental conflict

How to recognize when divorce and separation is affecting my child

How to communicate better with the other par-ent

How to get further help if I or my child needs it

The Facilitators all have at least a masters de-gree and extensive experience helping chil-dren and families with difficulties related to separation and divorce.

At the end of the seminar, you will receive a certificate which is to be given to your attor-ney for filing with the court (or if acting pro se, you must file it yourself). There is no fee to file a certificate.

You must pre-register by mail Seminars are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early registration is encouraged. You will receive a confirmation once you are regis-tered, with the seminar location, date and time.

To Register: 1. Complete the registration form. Each

parent/party must complete a registration form. The name of the other parent/party is required. You will be scheduled to attend a seminar separate from the other party, un-less both parties submit a written statement requesting joint attendance.

2. Obtain a money order or cashier's check, payable to For the Kids’ Sake. The

fee for the class is on a sliding scale based on net monthly income. Net income is deter-mined by deducting taxes & social security from your gross income. Do NOT subtract any other deductions or payment to deter-mine your income. (See Fee Chart )

3. Provide proof of income, if needed. If you pay less than the full $150 fee, you must send in verification that you fall within the income bracket for the fee that you do pay. Verification of one month's income is suffi-cient. It can include pay stubs, child support checks, welfare or DSHS paperwork, unem-ployment or disability paperwork, or a signed, hand-written financial declaration if you have no income.

Children are not allowed, so please make any necessary childcare arrangements.

A Security Officer is on site at each seminar to assure the safety of all participants.
