Warranty - Type I does NOT have a warranty whereas 3MHIP has a 10 year warranty and 3MDG 3 has a 12 year warranty. COMPLIANCE DATES “After the effective date of a new edition of the MUTCD or a revision thereto, or after the adoption thereof by the State, whichever occurs later, new or reconstructed devices installed shall be in compliance with the new edition or revision.” “Section I-3, P20” This statement applies to all changes in the 2009 MUTCD. Implementation of a management or assessment method to maintain traffic sign retroreflectivity must be in place by January 22, 2012. Replacement of signs identified as failing using one of the above methods by January 22, 2015. “Except as provided in Paragraph 24, when a noncompliant traffic control device is being replaced or refurbished because it is damaged, missing, or no longer serviceable for any reason, it shall be replaced with a compliant device.” “Section I-3, P23” “Option: One compliant device in the midst of a series of adjacent noncompliant devices would be confusing to road users; and/or the schedule for replacement of the whole series of noncompliant devices will result in achieving timely compliance with the MUTCD.” “Section I-3, P24” MUTCD GUIDANCE AND LANGUAGE The MUTCD applies to all traffic control devices placed on, over, or adjacent to a street, highway, pedestrian facility, bikeway, or private roads open to public travel. “No items other than inventory stickers, sign installation dates, and bar codes shall be affixed to the fronts of STOP or YIELD signs, and the placement of these items shall be in the border of the sign.” “Section 2B.10, P04” “No items other than official traffic control signs, inventory stickers, sign installation dates, anti-vandalism stickers, and bar codes shall be mounted on the backs of STOP or YIELD signs.” “Section 2B.10, P05” “A sign that is mounted back-to-back with a STOP or YIELD sign should stay within the edges of the STOP or YIELD sign. If necessary, the size of the STOP or YIELD should be increased so that any other sign installed back-to-back with a STOP or YIELD sign remains within the edges of the STOP or YIELD sign.” “Section 2B.10, P08” The new plaques to be used with STOP signs are shown to the right directly below the STOP sign; 2-WAY, 3-WAY, 4-WAY, or other numbers are no longer permitted.
