Tutorial for using Easybib.com to create MLA citations 

Researching, analyzing, and relaying information in a variety of methods is a very important skill needed for a plethora of educational and real world settings.  While you have already completed your research, the next step is to give proper credit where it is due.

Step 2.   In the web browser, type in www.easybib.com and hit the enter button 

Step 3.  In the center of the screen you will find a button labeled “click here to select source”.  Click on this button

Step 4.  A new screen will appear for you to select the type of source you used.        Choose a source from this list 

Step 5.  After making a selection, another screen will appear for you to write in the source information.  You may not always be able to fill in every section of the citation, ignore those that have no information. (EX: you may have a volume number, but no issue number.  Therefore, leave issue number blank.  Please Note: you may not always have an ISBN number.  Ignore this section if you do not have it.  However, it will self cite if you do have this number.

Step 6.  After you have filled out the information, click on the create citation button at the bottom of the page. 

    

Step 7.  A new screen will then appear with your citation.

Step 8.  Still more works to cite?  Click on the “click here to select a source” at the top of the page  

       Step 9.  After clicking the last button, a new page will appear taking you back to the original screen in step 4.    Select another source and repeat steps 4‐7.

  Note that EasyBib.com will continue to keep a list of your citations until you are complete.  However, if you leave the cite before finishing, you must save your information, by clicking on the “Save Now”   Repeat steps 4‐8 until you are finished with your citations.   

   Step 10.  When you are finished compiling your list, export your document by clicking on the “MS Word” button

Step 11.   A pop up will appear, click ok  If nothing pops up, you may have your pop‐up blocker on.  Look at the top of the screen to disable this function.  

    Step 12.  Once you click “ok”, a word document will appear.  Your Works Cited will automatically be formatted correctly.  You will simply need to save and print.

Step 13.  Save your works cited page to your folder in the network.    To do so, first go to File and click on Save 

Step 14.  A Save screen will appear, click on Network places on the bottom left.  Then double click on Teacher Folders

Step 15.  After double clicking on Teacher Folders, find Oliver and double click   

Step 16.  Double click on your class folder

Step 18.  Before saving, go to file name and rename as “Works Cited” then click Save 

Step 19.  When finished saving, go back to File and Print a copy

In‐Text Citations:  Step 20.  Now that your bibliography is complete, it is time to add your in‐text citations.  With your bibliography in front of you, it is time to look at your paper and bibliography simultaneously.    Bibliography   Paper 

Step 21.  When adding an in‐text citation to the end of a sentence or paragraph, you are to use either the author’s last name or the article title if no author exists.  Once author’s last name is identified, add the name or article title to the end of the sentence or paragraph from which the information is derived.  Put the in‐text citation within parentheses with a period at the end of the closing parentheses.    In‐text citations demonstrate to the reader where exactly a particular section of information came from.
