Saturday, February 1, 2014Sign: AquariusNakshatra: SatabhishaTithi: TritiyaDay: Saturn

February 1st, 2014, the Moon is in Aquarius and it’s closely joined Mercury. Aquarius is ruled by Saturn and it is the masculine nature of Saturn which is airy and about intellect and thinking. Saturn is about structure, boundaries, and long-term planning and Aquarius is where we connect with thought structures and enduring ideas that last beyond just our personal lifetime.

The Moon in Aquarius on February 1st brings that mindset of enduring ideas which connect to larger social causes and principles. It is joined Mercury so there can be a lot of speech and communication of these values and causes. It is a good day to speak out and speak up for what you believe in.

Jupiter is also aspecting the Moon, bringing a connection to higher teachings and principles. It is a good day also to study and teach others with the Jupiter influence.

Saturday is ruled by Saturn, the planet of determination, effort, and boundaries. It is the 3rd lunar day called Tritiya which is related to Lord Vishnu who is the pervader of the cosmos. This is a good day for trimming and editing things. Making adjustments is important on February 1st.

The Nakshatra of the day is Satabhisha which means “a hundred doctors, or a hundred physicians”. Many times, there is metaphysical healing potential in this Nakshatra because we have had to go to a hundred doctors to cure our self and it is often a mysterious ailment we are trying to get rid of which then makes us a healer. The deity of Satabhisha is Varuna who is the god of the sky and the seasons.

Sunday, February 2, 2014Sign: AquariusNakshatra: PurvabhadrapadaTithi: ChaturthiDay: Sun

On Sunday, February 2nd, the Moon is still in Aquarius for most of the day and it continues that theme of social causes and connections. The Jupiter aspect is still intact which leads to higher teaching and philosophical principles.

The Moon is in Purvabhadrapada Nakshatra though, which has to do with the god Aja Ekapada or the one-footed goat. This has to do with lightning striking the Earth and the higher inspirations from heaven coming down and giving us a glimpse of that true nature. You can imagine lightning as the fire of truth descending from heaven and striking our presence and giving us a glimpse of who we truly are. That is a powerful metaphor on Sunday, February 2nd.

Sunday is ruled by the Sun which brings that hopeful and inspired quality. It is the 4th lunar day called Chaturthi which is one of the harsh lunar days and it has to do with the god Yama, and the god Ganesha who is the remover of obstacles which many times, come as a consequence of what we have done.

These themes of consequences and obstacles can also be important on Sunday, February 2nd, with the Moon in Aquarius continuing that theme of higher social causes, and Purvabhadrapada which has to do with that lightning strike of inspiration.

Monday, February 3, 2014Sign: PiscesNakshatra: UttarabhadrapadaTithi: PanchamiDay: Moon

Then on Monday, February 3rd, the Moon goes into Pisces in Uttarabhadrapada Nakshatra. Monday is ruled by the Moon.

It is the 5th lunar day called Panchami, so for the next two days, Monday and Tuesday, the Moon is in Pisces ruled by Jupiter. It is related to that higher philosophical potential that connects us to all things which is an evolution of Aquarius which connects us to culture and people and the world.

Aquarius is where our human Karma stops while Pisces is where we connect with the divine itself and merge with its totality. But it is internal, emotional, and intuitive merging, not an external, intellectual, or social merging.

The Nakshatra Uttarabhadrapada is ruled by a deity called Ahi Bhudnya or the celestial serpent where we go deeply into the dark corners of our psyche to try to expose those psychological weaknesses that have us stuck and have us in darkness. That is an important part of Pisces, the willingness to not just tune out all the unpleasantness of life but to actually go deeply into those mysteries. It’s also very creative and good for teaching and leading others. This will be important themes on Monday, February 3rd.

Mars is aspecting the Moon on Monday and Tuesday from Virgo bringing a sharp dynamic quality as well which may show in our relationships with others. Be careful of getting upset and arguing. But there could be a nice contrast with the Moon opposite Mars as it could bring us into the present moment through effort and courage.

It’s the 5th lunar day which is ruled by the Moon and it is called Panchami which has to do with medicines, healing, rituals, and routines. It’s one of the Purna tithis which has to do with fullness and growth. So expect a lot of growth and fullness on Monday as the Moon rules the tithi and the day or the vara.

Tuesday, February 4, 2014Sign: PiscesNakshatra: RevatiTithi: ShashtiDay: Mars

On Tuesday, the Moon continues through Pisces in the Nakshatra of Revati. Revati is ruled by the god called Pusham, who is the shepherd who guides us home after a long journey around the zodiac, when the soul is weary and looking for a safe haven. This section of Pisces is quite gentle and forgiving, where we tend to the lost animals and the flock, where we have a hard time to say no to anyone in need.

Tuesday is a great day to help and guide others in need, and it continues that theme of Pisces as well — that mystical connection.

Tuesday is ruled by Mars which gives that fighting, assertive quality. The 6th lunar day is called Shashti which also has the quality of Mars because the deity is called Subramanya who is the son of Lord Shiva and the General of the Army. Remember that there is a lot of Moon energy on Monday, and a lot of Mars energy on Tuesday, which means that, a lot of courage and discipline is possible.

Wednesday, February 5, 2014Sign: AriesNakshatra: AshwiniTithi: SaptamiDay: Mercury

On Wednesday, the Moon goes into Aries which is ruled by Mars. For the next couple of days, the Moon will be in Aries ruled by Mars and it will also be opposite Saturn, Rahu, and Mars in Libra. There are a lot of aspects and conjunctions because the Moon is also joined Ketu, the South Node, in Aries.

We have to watch becoming irritable with people and bringing a lot of painful inner scrutiny. We become critical of others when the Moon is in Aries because we are trying to feel powerful ourselves and the Moon is where we feel inherently a little weak.

The Moon in Aries gives a very fiery mentality and a black and white individualism but we tend to sacrifice our connections in order to establish individuality. There could be a lot of issues around this for the next couple of days.

On February 5th, the Moon is very close to the South Node, Ketu, which brings a lot of scrutiny, very sharp or narrow focus, and criticism. The Moon is also opposite Saturn, Rahu, and Mars which also gives a feeling of isolation. Especially tomorrow, those later aspects will be felt. The Saturn aspect will be very important on February 6th.

Today, the Moon is also in Ashwini Nakshatra which is ruled by the Ashwin Kumars, the twin horses and the metaphysical physicians of the god, so it is great for metaphysical healing. It is a light and swift Nakshatra which has to do with the prana, the energy running through the body.

Just like you can imagine horses running, Ashwini is the energy running through the body. We try to master that energy in that Prana and then harness it in Ashwini so they are moving forward quickly and impulsively. This is that nature of Aries. But you have to be careful not to scatter your energy on Wednesday with the moon in Ashwini.

It is the 7th lunar day called Saptami which is ruled by Lord Indra, the king of the gods. It is good for movements and maybe taking trips as well. Mercury is the ruler of Wednesday showing that it is a good day for variety, creativity, and trying new things.

Thursday, February 6, 2014Sign: AriesNakshatra: BharaniTithi: AshtamiDay: Jupiter

On February 6th, the Moon stays in Aries. It’s around the end of Aries in the Nakshatra of Bharani which means “bearing or to bear”. The Moon in Ashwini is about taking impulsive action, but those actions have consequences and we feel those consequences in Bharani. Feel the consequences today.

We have to be careful not to be punishing of ourselves and of others and instead, learn gracefully and lovingly. We tend to blame others and punish them for their mistakes and punish our self. We need to be careful of that punishment today.

Bharani is ruled by the god called Yama who is the god of consequences. There is that feeling of consequences and restriction today which can be a strong catalyst for improved action rather than just willful, sudden action. It is that part of Aries.

Saturn is aspecting very closely, so it is a good day for solitude here on Jupiter ruled Thursday. Jupiter is the ruler which has to do with teaching, growth, expansion, wisdom, and higher philosophies.

It is the 8th lunar day called Ashtami. Ashtami is ruled by the 8 Vasus and these are the creative forces in life that allow us to build. From an invisible place, we create something and the 8th lunar day, Ashtami, is that creativity.

Friday, February 7, 2014Sign: TaurusNakshatra: KrittikaTithi: NavamiDay: Venus

On February 7th, the Moon moves into Taurus. It will be exalted in Taurus for the 7th in Krittika Nakshatra. The Moon in Taurus is ruled by Venus. Venus exalts the Moon because Venus brings pleasure, beauty, and happiness. This kind of connection helps stabilize the mind and emotions. Taurus is also a fixed Earth sign which means that it is a solid and stable earth sign rather than moving around.

In Krittika, the Moon is exalted, and that means that the mind and heart can be quite stable for the next couple of days. Our connections to family and solid foundations like our house, wealth and money, and the solid stable things can give us a lot of peace for the next couple of days. The Moon is exalted here because those are the things that allow us to relax. If we don’t have a place to live or we don’t have a family, we feel it in the heart, or in the Moon.

The Nakshatra Krittika is ruled by the god Agni who is the god of fire. Fire as a god, as an illuminating principle or force is what’s important here.

It is the 9th lunar day called Navami which is one of the harsh lunar days. It is related to the Sarpa deity, the serpent who wants to be king. The serpent can bite us and eclipse our mind if we are not careful. So you want to make sure that the serpent does not eclipse your mind, instead, you can go deeper into that psychological power of the 9th lunar day on February 7th.

Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Friday, so there is a lot of Venus energy on Venus ruled day. Relationships, romance, and friends, these are the reasons why the Moon is exalted in Venus’ sign. There can be a lot of that power today on February 7th.

Saturday, February 8, 2014Sign: TaurusNakshatra: RohiniTithi: DasamiDay: Saturn

On February 8th, 2014, Saturday, the Moon is in Rohini Nakshatra and still in Taurus. Saturday is ruled by Saturn which brings a lot of determination, practicality, effort, and maybe a little bit of the awareness of the limitations and insecurity. But that is a great catalyst for introspection as well.

Rohini literally means “growth or growing” and it is ruled by the lord of growth and creativity called Prajapati or Lord Brahma. It is also related to the goddess Saraswati, his daughter, so there is a lot of growth, creativity, and beauty possible on Saturday with the Moon in Rohini in Taurus. And of course, it is Taurus, the bull, which is where the Moon is exalted, calm, and peaceful.

It is the 10th lunar day called Dasami which is related to the god Dharma, the god of righteousness and truth. Truth, righteousness, and beauty are all important themes on Saturday, February 8th, with the Moon in Taurus in Rohini which is quite creative and about growth and connection.

Sunday, February 9, 2014Sign: TaurusNakshatra: MrigasiraTithi: EkadasiDay: Sun

On Sunday, the Moon goes into Mrigasira Nakshatra. Mrigasira means “deer head” and this is the god of Soma, the god of the immortal nectar. It is the immortal nectar in the mind where the Soma or the nectar trips down from the crown chakra into the lower states of consciousness. When we elevate our perception and consciousness, that eternal beauty and truth trips down into the lower fields of the mind and body and it comes down from the soma, the nectar of immortality, in the brain.

This is related to Mrigasira which literally means “deer head” and it shows that gentle searching of the deer for the nectar of immortality.

It is Sunday which is ruled by the Sun. It has that quality of radiance, self-expression, and looking into that power that we want to give and radiating that power from our heart into the life and burning into creation our heart’s desire.

It is the 11th lunar day called Ekadasi which is ruled by the god called Rudra or Shiva. It has to do with purification and burning off the attachments of the world. Often there is fasting and other kinds of spiritual practice that are done on Ekadasi.

The Moon moves into Gemini half way through the day. On Sunday night, there will be much more of a playful curious nature as the Moon will go into Gemini. But for most of the day on Sunday, the Moon is still in Taurus in Mrigasira Nakshatra. It is Ekadasi, the 11th lunar day, so it might be good for small fast or to eat lightly on Sunday so that you can observe that intensity in the mind.

Monday, February 10, 2014Sign: GeminiNakshatra: ArdraTithi: DvadasiDay: Moon

On Monday, the Moon goes into Gemini and it will be there for the next couple of days. Gemini is ruled by Mercury which is the planet of creativity, flexibility, curiosity, and trying to understand the nature of the world. These will be important themes for the next couple of days.

Making adjustments, and as we gather more information, trying to connect it to others through the function of speech using language to build a bridge between ideas and people, that has a lot to do with Gemini.

Ardra is that quality of Gemini that is able to shatter and destroy old paradigms. That rebellious, individual spirit of Gemini comes from Ardra which is where the Moon is on Monday, February 10th. You have to be careful of what you are destroying when the Moon goes through Ardra. You have to be principled, dedicated, and connected to higher purpose and not just rebellious for the sake of being rebellious.

It is the 12th lunar day called Dvadasi which is related to the Sun and that inspired purpose. It is Monday which is ruled by the Moon and that is where we unlock the beauty in our heart. It could be quite an emotional day but make sure that those emotions are not wild and out of control as you gather new information and new ways of looking at things with the Moon in Gemini.

The Moon is also joined Jupiter on Monday and Tuesday. Now, the conjunction of Jupiter and Moon on these days brings us a higher philosophical nature. Principles and study are important on Monday and Tuesday.

Tuesday, February 11, 2014Sign: GeminiNakshatra: PunarvasuTithi: TrayodasiDay: Mars

Tuesday, especially, the Moon is in the Nakshatra Punarvasu which means “return of the light.” So after the intensity and the emotion of Ardra, there is the good feeling and the return of the light and lightness with Punarvasu.

It is also ruled by Jupiter — Punarvasu has a strong Jupiter quality in the Dasa scheme. The deity of Punarvasu is called Aditi who is the mother of the Aditias, the solar qualities that are brought down to Earth to protect and nurture humans and life on Earth.

Punarvasu has that quality of parentage, like a mother watching after their children. The symbol is a quiver of arrows that are aimed up with high hopes. But you also want to be realistic on Tuesday. Tuesday is ruled by Mars, so there is that quality of courage, fighting, and individual passion that we can experience on Tuesday, February 11th.

It is the 13th lunar day called Trayodasi which is about passion. The god Kama Deva is the god of our passions. It is good for enjoying life which includes sexuality, beauty, and just being with people. These things could be good on Tuesday, February 11th.

Wednesday, February 12, 2014Sign: CancerNakshatra: PushyaTithi: TrayodasiDay: Mercury

Then the Moon goes into Cancer for the next couple of days. On February 12th and 13th, the Moon is in Cancer, ruled by the Moon. The Moon is in its own sign and it is good for what the Moon is interested in which is peace in our heart. It could also be quite emotional so we have to be attached and anchored to things that truly give peace rather than things that give desire or where we are trying to fulfill and satisfy our desires.

The sign of Cancer can be very destabilizing because our desires only bring a temporary happiness and then the rest of the time, we are worried that we are going to lose the thing that we have or we are just not happy with what we have.

The sign of Cancer is about things that are more eternal, like the mother’s love for the child. It is not about fulfilling the mother’s needs and desires, it is about giving.

For the next couple of days, it is really about giving, sacrifice, and serving others because we want to give. We are made from love, our nature is love and we want to give love. That is what it is about for the next couple of days.

Pushya is the Nakshatra of Wednesday, the 12th, and it literally is symbolized by the breasts, just like a mother’s milk feeds the baby, it is that literal.

The deity of Pushya is Brihaspati, the priest, so this is symbolic of the highest teaching that must also nurture us and we must suckle and drink from the great wisdom teachings in life.

It is still Trayodasi today and it is good for fulfilling desires and enjoying life.

It is Wednesday, ruled by Mercury which has to do with creativity, flexibly, curiosity, and those things that we talked about when we discussed Gemini. This is Mercury’s day, Wednesday, so it is a good day to make adjustments and trying new things.

Thursday, February 13, 2014Sign: CancerNakshatra: AsleshaTithi: ChaturdasiDay: Jupiter

On Thursday, the Moon is in Aslesha Nakshatra. Aslesha is ruled by the god called Sarpa. Sarpa is the serpent that is entwined in our mind like our life is tangled up with this serpent energy and we are coiled around our desires and that serpent can bite us if we are not careful. We need to elevate and become attached to things that are not about our own desire and happiness in the sign of Cancer.

Aslesha shows the problem of becoming attached to our own desires too much. But when we are attached to pure love, then Aslesha is very deep and takes us to the source. It is related to the Kundalini, the deeper energy circuits in our consciousness.

Thursday is ruled by Jupiter which brings high teachings and wisdom. This is a great day for high intellectual study especially of the great wisdom teachings of astrology, Aryuveda, and yoga.

It is the 14th lunar day called Chaturdasi which is right before the Full Moon and it is related to the goddess Kali. It is a very fierce, kind of rampaging, lunar day because the Moon is also very bright. You might find that the mind is very restless today. If you are depressed and upset, do not do anything hasty, because the other thing is that, the Sun changed signs today so there is a lot of energy that kind of volatile. Be careful today.

Friday, February 14, 2014Sign: CancerNakshatra: Aslesha Tithi: Full Moon PurnimaDay: Venus

On Friday, the Moon will still be in Cancer but the Full Moon will happen in Leo. The Full Moon is still in Aslesha Nakshatra for most of the day, so it is a lot of the same qualities yesterday. But it is Friday which is ruled by Venus and it brings more desire and connection to happiness. There can be disappointment as well with what we have so we need to be careful of that on Friday.

A lot of the same indicators as yesterday are present on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, which falls on Venus’ day. Instead of the 14th lunar day, it is also the Full Moon called Purnima. This is where we are really full of our emotions and our self or consciousness. Be careful of really getting emotionally jacked up and intense on Friday, February 14th, Valentine’s day. Be cool with your partners.

Saturday, February 15, 2014Sign: LeoNakshatra: MaghaTithi: PratipadaDay: Saturn

On February 15th, the Moon enters Leo, where it will be for the next couple of days. The Moon in Leo is quite fiery, passionate, dynamic, and individualized. It is where we are thinking about our own glory and personal strength and the creative joy that comes from being a powerful individual. But that power must come from a place of righteousness and truth, just like a king who wants to take care of the kingdom or a father who wants to provide for their family. Once the king starts to steal from the kingdom or the father starts to expect subservience from their children and want to dominate everyone in the family, then they abuse their power and authority. The same is true with Leo. You want to share the power graciously and give it for the next couple of days.

The first Nakshatra in Leo is Magha which is ruled by the Pitris, the divine ancestors. These ancestors not only relate to your family in this lifetime but also those teachers in the celestial family, that eternal family that has been with you throughout the history of your soul.

The symbol of Magha is a royal seat like the throne. This is the real power within you and you want to be sitting and established in that power rather than a lower form of power which leads to that abuse of authority.

It is the 1st lunar day called Pratipada which begins this new cycle of the waning Moon. We are looking to harmonize this energy of Aquarius with Leo now and learning to serve higher causes and principles rather than just our own glory. That is the most important quality of this cycle of the waning Moon.

The 1st lunar day is very creative and it is related to Brahma the creator. There could be some important creations today that revolve around sharing you power with others, perhaps at work or in other situations. You can find an opportunity to serve. These qualities of Leo will be very important.

It is Saturday which is ruled by Saturn. Saturn has this nature to want to bring down the king off the throne. Saturn is the worker and the labor and it can bring a lot of humility into the mix on February 15th.

Sunday, February 16, 2014Sign: LeoNakshatra: PurvaphalguniTithi: DvitiyaDay: Sun

February 16th, Sunday, the Moon is still in Leo. Sunday is also ruled by the Sun so there is that power not only from Leo but also from the Sun to bring this radiant strength into existence. We will feel a lot of that on February 16th.

The Nakshatra is called Purvaphalguni and the god is called Bagha, the god of delight. This is about delighting in power, the king is happy to be on the throne and in power. This quality of the king delighting in his riches and kingdom has to do with Purvaphalguni and the god Bagha. But you want to be generous with the riches of the kingdom and not keep them for yourself, bear that in mind today. It is a great day to enjoy your power and strengths and share it with others and appreciate the beauty and abundance of life. Affection, joy, and courtship are possible today as well.

The 2nd lunar day is called Dvitiya which is related to Lord Hari or Lord Narayana and it is a creative lunar phase about establishing structures and foundations so that we can support the work of that lunar phase. Work that supports giving, sharing, and unification of the Aquarius-Leo principle can be important today. Community gatherings and get-togethers might be on the table today.

It is Sunday which is ruled by the Sun, Leo is also ruled by the Sun, Purvaphalguni is related to the god of delight and joy, and the 2nd lunar day is about establishing a stronger routine and foundation for this unfolding lunar cycle of the waning Moon.

Monday, February 17, 2014Sign: VirgoNakshatra: UttaraphalguniTithi: TritiyaDay: Moon

Then the Moon goes into Virgo on February 17th. February 17th, Monday, is ruled by the Moon. Virgo is ruled by Mercury in his reflective feminine quality. That internal psychological quality of Mercury has to do with Virgo and it has to do with organizing and managing our inner environment, the inner details or structure of our life. That is what Virgo is about. Rather than getting bogged down and all the problems of the outer world, it is about organizing the inner world. Therapy, counseling, and working through psychological methodology, and organizing our environment, our home, and caring for our loved ones is very important in Virgo.

The Moon is in Uttaraphalguni Nakshatra, which comes after Purvaphalguni. Uttaraphalguni is related to marriage and official, legal business — things that may have to do with the government and other official kinds of legalities and structures.

In Uttaraphalguni, the god is called Aryaman who is related to contracts and official business. It might be a good day to tidy up on things like taxes. It is also called the marriage star — marriage is like a contract. It is that quality of getting all the details right in the contract which has to do with Virgo.

It is the 3rd lunar day called Tritiya which is related to Lord Vishnu who is the one who organizes everything. It is about making sure that all the details are in a row. So there is a lot of Mercury energy because Mercury is also ruled by Lord Vishnu and so is the lunar day.

It is a good day to structure and organize your inner environment and move everything where it is suppose to be. It is ruled by the Moon which has much more of an emotional component to it, so there might be a lot of sensitivity, feeling, and intuition that informs this detail-oriented work of the day.

Tuesday, February 18, 2014Sign: VirgoNakshatra: HastaTithi: ChaturthiDay: Mars

Then the Moon goes into Hasta Nakshatra. Hasta is ruled by the Moon, so the Moon is on its own Nakshatra. It is Tuesday which is ruled by Mars and Mars gives that enthusiasm and passion to the day. Mars is related to the son of Shiva who is the General of the Army. It is good for discipline and enthusiastic, passionate action.

Hasta is related to the Moon and the deity here is called Savitur who is one of the incarnations of the Sun, brought forth to protect the Earth. The Gayatri mantra is very important when the Moon goes into Hasta because that is a hymn to Savitur. Saying the Gayatri mantra may be important. Gayatri is a mantra of manifestation where you can bring abundance into the world. That maybe important on February 18th.

It is the 4th lunar day called Chaturthi which is related to Lord Yama, the god of death and endings and Lord Ganesha, the god of obstacles. Obstacles create restrictions, blockages, and inhibitions. This is the energy of the 4th lunar day. It is one of the difficult lunar days for that reason. It is not good to start new things on this Rikta tithis. Rikta means “obstacle or emptiness”. It is not good for starting new things where we want fullness and growth.

Tuesday is ruled by Mars and the Nakshatra is Hasta which literally means “the hand”, which is abundant, full, and creative. It is the 4th lunar day Chaturthi which has to do with obstacles and it is in Virgo ruled by Mercury where we are still managing and organizing all the details.

Wednesday, February 19, 2014Sign: LibraNakshatra: ChitraTithi: PanchamiDay: Mercury

Then on Wednesday, Mercury’s day, the Moon goes into Libra. We got a couple of stressful days ahead of us because the Moon is joined Mars, Rahu and Saturn in Libra. All 3 of the difficult planets will be in Libra for a while and the Moon is going to be joined them on February 19th.

This Moon in Libra joined the 3 malefic planets can really shows some dynamic getting worked out in our relationships with others. We can really feel the stress, pressure, and difficulty of that on February 19th, 20th and into the 21st.

Libra is the sign of romantic relationships and all our personal interactions with others but it has Saturn and Rahu and then Mars, all 3 of them, in this sign now. Those planets are difficult and stressful because they are things that are harder for us to manage like our fear, anger, and confusion. Those qualities of life lead us to a deeper sense of awareness because we have to face those obstacles at that time.

But typically, we face them by wanting to be alone and we destroy connection and do things that don’t necessarily make us happy. But we only have so much happiness related to how we are able to handle those difficult things. All of these could be important for the next couple of days with the Moon in Libra.

Here on Wednesday, the Moon is in Chitra Nakshatra in Libra which is ruled by the God called Vishwa Karma who is the celestial architect. This celestial architect is the one who builds the structure in our life and the structure that might be built now could be quite difficult. You want to be aware of getting irritated and upset especially because Rahu-Mars will be very close to the Moon on February 19th. Be careful about destroying your connections now because there will be a very high possibility of getting triggered, jealous, and blowing things out of proportion.

It is Mercury’s day so it is also the day that is related to speech and communication, intelligence, and trying to move and be flexible within those parameters. It is the 5th lunar day called Panchami which is Purna tithi, a full tithi, and this means that is about fullness, growth, creativity, and is also related to the Moon.

It is a good day for healing, energetic medicine and things like that. Try to be calm especially on the 19th and the 20th with the Moon in Libra joined Saturn, Mars, Rahu in Chitra Nakshatra. Try to build something creative and constructive today.

Thursday, February 20, 2014Sign: LibraNakshatra: SvatiTithi: ShashtiDay: Jupiter

On the 20th, this could be another stressful day. The Moon is in Svati Nakshatra which gives the power to scatter, so we might feel quite scattered and want to blow something and blow things up. This is about Svati energy and it is related to the god Hanuman, the monkey god who is the general army of the monkeys.

Hanuman was the great hero in the epic Ramayana and this Nakshatra is related to him and his power — the power to gather the energy of the mind and concentrate it on depth and power and what is called Prana, rather than scattering and disperse it everywhere in a million different directions like the monkey mind scattering.

This is the quality of Libra that initiates contact and connections with others but sometimes it could be also quite scattered and random. In Libra energy, there is often the word “balanced” that is attached but it is also very unbalanced. It can unbalance things just to bring them back into balance and always continually keeping things unbalanced so there could be some kind of illusion of balancing. Be careful of that playing the devil’s advocate to always keep some sort of intellectual balancing act going on.

Instead of that wastage of energy, go deeper into that which is about Prana, breath, vitality, and strength. Mastering the breath (which is also air, and Libra is the cardinal air sign) means calming down that need for just stimulation and interaction with others, and instead, it brings it into the realm of our connection to the other within, our deeper other, that self within rather than the self without.

It is also Thursday which is ruled by Jupiter and Jupiter is the great teacher, guide, and leader and connecting with your higher teachings and looking into the bigger picture rather than just the stimulation of the moment will be important.

It is Shashti which is the 6th lunar day. It is an important day for victories and celebrations and it has to do with the joy of celebrating, that sort of victory over darkness. It is a very celebratory lunar day related to the god Subramanya, the General of the Army. So there is a combative nature but it is after we have conquered weakness. Keep that in mind on Thursday with the Moon is Svati and still in Libra and on the 6th lunar day.

Friday, February 21, 2014Sign: LibraNakshatra: VishakaTithi: SaptamiDay: Venus

On February 21st, the Moon is in Vishaka Nakshatra which is ruled by Jupiter and the gods are Indra and Agni, the god of fire and lightning. The Moon is also very close to Saturn today. This quality of the Moon being close to Saturn can really bring that sense of limitation, potential depression, grief, and sadness into the mind.

Saturn gives us the feeling of separation from the heart which feels lonely because we tend to connect the heart with others. We tend to notice when we are not connected to others when Moon joined Saturn. That can lead to loneliness and sadness, sorrow, and isolation. But then, we can transform that into solitude, introspection, silence, and meditation. Those are great possibilities on February 21st.

The Nakshatra of Svati and Hanuman, the monkey god, [reign] in the monkey mind jumping around and it leads to deep silence, strength, enormous solitude, and a capacity for self contained strength.

Venus is the ruler of Friday, so February 21st is ruled by Venus. It is about relationship, relating, connecting to others, and enjoyment. It is the 7th lunar day called Saptami which also has to do with Lord Indra who is the co-ruler of the Nakshatra, so Indra, the king of the gods, is important today. It is a good day to live like a king, take a journey, travel, and live an empowered life. This is a Bhadra tithi which is about the blessed life, like the blessed life of a king.

The Moon is very close to its debility as well so it is quite stressful days on the 19, 20 and 21 of February.

Saturday, February 22, 2014Sign: ScorpioNakshatra: AnuradhaTithi: AshtamiDay: Saturn

On the 22nd of February, we have the Moon in Scorpio. The Moon goes into Scorpio on Saturday, February 22nd, and it is in Anuradha Nakshatra and it is the 8th lunar day.

The Moon is in Scorpio for the next couple of days. Scorpio is ruled by Mars and it is the feminine reflective nature of Mars where the emotions are very intense and we are trying to strengthen our emotional resolve by facing our emotional weaknesses and that kind of approach. We become aware of our fears and those things we cannot control in Scorpio. We want a feeling of control over the things we love and we are afraid of them being taken away in Scorpio. So we can tend to get into battles with others over those things that we are afraid of losing and experience a lot of vulnerability that we are trying to protect. These are big lessons for the next couple of days with the Moon in Scorpio.

Anuradha Nakshatra is ruled by the god Mitra which means “friend or friendliness”. God as a divine friend is very important on Saturday, February the 2nd. God as a divine friend means rather than being so emotionally invested in people where you lose your discrimination, be more like a great friend. Friends will be there for everyone regardless of what they do. Just like that friend of yours that you can call any hour of the night and you know they will not judge you. That is the type of friend to be, that is the type of relationship that you need to have with god or your higher self.

Do not judge yourself, do not fear, and do not pathologize others and those ones that you have this emotional hook into. Be more light-hearted and that greatness of pure love can emerge, just like that pure love that your friends have for you or that you have for your friends without any need for reciprocation.

It is the 8th lunar day which is related to strength, building an established foundation, and also with prosperity. It is one of the Jaya lunar days and Jaya means “victory”. It is a good day to really create growth, abundance, and feel victorious over the darker forces of life. But again, you need to be careful because the Moon in Scorpio and we tend to be a little worried and focused on the dark side, the dark possibilities and always sensing that there might be danger. Be careful of that on Saturday, February 22nd, with the Moon in Scorpio in Anuradha Nakshatra and on the 8th lunar day.

Sunday, February 23, 2014Sign: ScorpioNakshatra: JyeshthaTithi: NavamiDay: Sun

On February 23rd, the Moon is still in Scorpio but it is in the Nakshatra of Jyeshtha. Jyeshtha is ruled by Lord Indra, the king of the gods. This Nakshatra of Jyeshtha is called the warrior star so it is about power, dominance, and going to battle over a righteous cause or principles.

In this Nakshatra, we may wish to do battle over those who we feel have wronged us. This is the quality of Scorpio that we need to be careful of. So, we need to go to battle with our own fears and insecurities instead of turning it against someone external.

One story of Indra is where he was swallowed by the dragon who stole the water from the Earth. He allowed himself to be swallowed so he could cut his way out of the belly of the dragon and then return all the water to the Earth. That is what we need to do. We need to allow our self to have the courage to deeper into and be swallowed by fear so we can cut our way out and restore and give life and nourishment back to the Earth and into those in our life rather than fight with them.

It is the 9th lunar day called Navami and it is a harsh lunar day. It is related to the Sarpa, the serpent god. We need to honor that serpent energy which can bite, trick, and hurt us. Instead of being poisoned by insecurity, fear, worry, and paranoia, we need to take that on our self.

But this is not a good day to start anything new or to do things where you are trying to succeed. You also want to be careful of your tongue, lashing out, and harming others amidst that kind of lunar day that it is good for taking harsh aggressive actions against others. If you have those kinds of things that you need to do, like, let us say, you are being attacked and you need to fight back and strike back, it is a good day for that.

It is Sunday which is ruled by the Sun giving that beneficent, magnanimous, and generous nature. It is a good day to really plan ahead and look forward into your life and correct your vision to make sure that you are on the right path.

Monday, February 24, 2014Sign: SagittariusNakshatra: MulaTithi: DasamiDay: Moon

Then on Monday, the Moon goes into Sagittarius which is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter is very much about growth, expansion, hope, and connecting to higher teachings, principles, purpose, and authority. In Jupiter‘s sign and domain, we sense that all these are possible and things are hopeful. After the darkness and the stress of Scorpio, the hope and optimism of Sagittarius is very redeeming. For the next couple of days, we’ll feel that optimism and hope in an active way, that active hope, growth, and expansion.

The first part of Sagittarius is Mula Nakshatra where we need to uproot the darkness that came before. We need to uproot all the darkness and stress in Scorpio and plant the seeds of optimism, hope, and good teachings.

On Monday, February 24th, there could be some uprooting and that feeling of harshness. We need to weed the garden in order to grow flowers. We might feel like weeding the garden today but know that it is for a hopeful and higher cause and purpose.

The deity of Mula is called Nerati which is related to the goddess Kali who cuts and destroys our attachments. That is often where the seeds of our weakness and limitations are planted, in the desires and attachments in our mind. We have these desires and attachments in our mind and instead, we need to plant truth. We are often so attached to all of these things of the world and that creates so much stress, we need to uproot that.

On Monday, that will be important but it will be tricky because Monday is ruled by the Moon and the Moon is where all of our attachments come from. Our attachments are derived from the Moon. We have to be careful not stay in this idea that other people and the world itself is where our inner peace is found. We need to find peace within. But on Monday, we are often looking for connection.

It is the 10th lunar day called Dasami which is related to the god Dharma and truth. Staying with the truth will be important — the absolute truth, not the easier version of truth but the willingness to stay dedicated to what is real and truthful, not just convenient for us.

Tuesday, February 25, 2014Sign: SagittariusNakshatra: PurvaashadhaTithi: EkadasiDay: Mars

On the 25th of February, the Moon is in Purvaashadha Nakshatra. It is Tuesday which is ruled by Mars so there is that enthusiasm and passion that drives Mars to be right and to succeed.

Purvaashadha is ruled by the god Apas, the god of the ocean. Oceanic waters, the waters of consciousness and truth, literally ocean being surrounded by water, and water could be very important on February 25th with the Moon in Purvaashadha.

It is also related to Venus who is the planetary ruler. This is a very devotional Nakshatra but we need to apply discrimination to what we are devoted to rather than just blind belief which can happen in Sagittarius. Sagittarius believes blindly. We need to have discrimination and make sure that our teachings are founded in authentic wisdom, not just in something that is comfortable, convenient, and dogmatic.

It is the 11th lunar day called the Ekadasi which has to do with sacrifice, tapas, and penance. It is related to the god Rudra where we are willing to sacrifice for our principles and what we know is right not necessarily what is easy. Often there is fasting recommended on the 11th lunar day and other things like that.

On Mars ruled Tuesday, the 25th, it could definitely be a good day for that. On Purvaashadha, there could be a lot of devotion as well, included in that. The Moon is also being aspected by Saturn and it is joined Venus and is also aspected by Jupiter, so there is a lot of influences on the Moon as it goes through Sagittarius.

Today it is very close to Venus in the sky which reaffirms that devotion to god and that great feeling of love in our heart where we are connected to higher teachings and wisdom.

Wednesday, February 26, 2014Sign: CapricornNakshatra: UttaraashadhaTithi: TrayodasiDay: Mercury

On February 26th, the Moon goes into Uttaraashadha Nakshatra in Capricorn. The Moon will be in Capricorn for the next couple of days and it is ruled by Saturn. It brings this awareness of limitation, structure, and endings and this feeling that we do not have unlimited time, or intelligence. All these things are unlimited and finite so we can become aware of that and feel the stress, pain, and worry in Saturn areas of life.

The Moon is in Saturn’s sign today of Capricorn which is the emotional quality of Saturn, where we really feel in our heart. This can make us feel alone, disconnected, worried, and lonely. But the Moon is also joined Mercury and Venus as it goes though Capricorn. These are 2 gentle planets which tend to bring communication and ease as well as beauty and assistance from others.

It is also Mercury’s day, Wednesday, so it is a variety of curiosity and considering more portions and communication.

Uttaraashadha is the Nakshatra and it literally means later victory and it is ruled by the gods called the Vishwa Devas, the full gods. There are 10 of the Vishwa Devas and they are related to all kinds of Indian Vedic principles like Garma, Karma, and Kama. It has to do with consequences, truth, righteousness, action, and desire. These are the things that guarantee our victories in life. But we need to make sure that those things are clean and pure and then we will rise to the heights of our incarnation and get what we want from life.

It is the 13th lunar day called Trayodasi which is related to the god Kama Deva who is the god of sex and desire, enjoyment, and pleasure. There could be a lot of sexual healing today because the Moon is also joined Venus and it is in the lunar phase related to Cupid / Kama Deva. It could be a good day for making love and connecting with your beloveds in that way. Those could become real consolations as the Moon goes through Capricorn and overcomes some of the problems of Saturn which have to do with stress and worry.

Thursday, February 27, 2014Sign: CapricornNakshatra: SravanaTithi: ChaturdasiDay: Jupiter

On February 27th, the Moon continues through Capricorn in Sravana Nakshatra. Sravana literally means “hearing” and it is related to the god Vishnu. This is the part of Capricorn which is about connecting to all things through silence. Hearing literally takes place through silence. If there is inner chatter, you cannot hear. When you trace sound back to its source, the source of sound is silence. That silence in your mind which facilitates sound is what Sravana is about.

Hearing the truth, not just hearing the sounds, is what is possible today with the Moon in Sravana Nakshatra. Practicing Sravana means practicing listening with attention and attentiveness.

The Moon here is very close to Mercury retrograde. Mercury’s been retrograde for a while now and this brings the quality of reflecting on what we say and hesitating before we blurt out something random and unintelligent. The Moon will be very close to Mercury bringing that intelligence into our life.

Sravana and Mercury are ruled by Lord Vishnu so there is a lot of that Vishnu energy to connect to all things on Thursday, February 27th.

Thursday is ruled by Jupiter and it is about teachings, growth, optimism, hope, and expansion. There is also very important aspect from Jupiter onto the Sun right now. February 27th and 28th are very good days for teaching and really connecting your vision with your life and purpose.

It is the 14th lunar day called Chaturdasi and it is also Shivaratri. This is Maha Shivaratri which is the great night of Lord Shiva. This is a great night to celebrate Lord Shiva all around the world because it is the 14th lunar day of Chaturdasi on this night. This will be a wonderful time to really go deeper into your spiritual practices.

Every Krishna Chaturdasi is Shivaratri but this is the great Maha Shivaratri on February 27th, Jupiter’s day in Sravana Nakshatra with the Moon in Capricorn.

Friday, February 28, 2014Sign: AquariusNakshatra: SatabhishaTithi: New Moon AmavasyaDay: Venus

On February 28th, last day of the month, it is the New Moon. The Moon is in Satabhisha and it goes into Aquarius joined the Sun and still in Saturn, but it is Saturn ruled Aquarius where we extend Saturn’s energy into the world. Instead of being focused on our own emotional separation, we have conquered that at this point and we have made peace with the limitations of the world emotionally. Now we realize that we need to connect that eternal self within that we have encountered through silence with the culture and everything outside. It is not about us or our individuality, it is about the collective social consciousness that is beyond and that is bigger than just our individual ego.

This why, for the next couple of days, you may find yourself aligned with higher principles, causes, and purposes no bigger than yourself because the nature of Aquarius is to be universalized and be of service of larger causes and themes than just our own happiness and enjoyment.

Satabhisha means “a hundred doctors, hundred physicians, or a hundred medicines”. This can often show mysterious illnesses that are hard to cure and find an answer for, so you go to a lot of doctors and physicians to heal this. It often makes people healers so it is a very good day for self-healing. With the Moon in Satabhisha, and often when people have their planets in their chart, people become very good healers because they have to look for alternative remedies to their mysterious problems.

It is the New Moon and it is dark so we cannot see it in the sky, it is burnt up in the Sun. It brings a lot of energy around these qualities and these themes of Satabhisha and Aquarius. This Satabhisha Nakshatra and New Moon in Aquarius is very much a time for connecting your limited vision with a greater social and cultural cause because that is the best that you can do with you limited energy — to be of used, to be of purpose to something higher than just yourself and your own personal glory.

It is Friday which is ruled by Venus so it is very much about creativity, beauty, and sharing yourself and heart with the world. The deity of the New Moon is the Pitris, the divine ancestor, so this is a great time to connect with hose celestial cosmic forces that have guided your life.
