View2006 was a good year. B-Band has per-formed numerous product focus and chang-es, and a business alliance, to consolidatethe strengths of B-Band. This evolution of B-Band will bring many important, positive, re-sults to all B-Band customers in 2007.

For 2007 B-Band introduces a new UST pick-up, two new guitar preamps and a new drumpreamp. There are also new upgrades to themore popular guitar preamps offering higheroutput and headroom and very low noise.

B-Band Ltd has also formed a strategic alli-ance with Belcat Co., Ltd. Belcat is a veryreputable manufacture of amplifiers, tuners,effect pedals, preamps and pickups since1988. With this alliance B-Band will bringproducts with added value to the customer.

Guitar PickupsNEW FOR 2007- R SERIES RIBBED UST

USTThe B-Band UST* (Under Saddle Transduc-er) is the finest pickup choice for acousticguitar. Instruments equipped with a B-Band UST have enhanced countless liveand studio productions by being able toproduce an unparalleled acoustic tone.

The new B-Band R series Ribbed USTcontinues with unsurpassed sound qualitybut with a more robust structure. The pick-up is physically ultra thin and flexible mak-ing it easy to install usually without theneed for modifications to the saddle or sad-dle slot. The new ribbed structure of theUST R series UST is more durable with bet-ter balance properties. This makes installa-tion fast.

The UST is constructed of Emfit® elec-tret film material that is exclusive only to B-Band.

Because the B-Band UST is so thin andvery lightweight it does not interfere withthe signal passing through to the body ofthe instrument retaining the instrument’soriginal acoustic sound. The construction ofthe UST is a long consistent structure thatends with a connector for easy plug-in fit-ting to the preamp without soldering.

AST (1470)The B-Band AST is made of the same ex-clusive Emfit material found in the UST butdesigned to fit at the bridge plate or sound-board of the instrument. The AST has a verywide frequency response and dynamicrange to capture all the tone details of anacoustic instrument. It has all the advan-tages of a microphone without positioningand feedback. The AST is very thin, lightweight andcompact. Because of it size and the two-side tape on it’s back, it is easy to navigateto fit anywhere inside an instrument with-out critical positioning. The construction ofthe AST is a long consistent structure thatends with a connector for easy plug-in fit-ting to the preamp without soldering. Compatible with all B-Band preamps,the AST can be used as a stand-alonesource or in combination with a UST with aB-Band dual source preamp. AST can beused with any acoustic instrument withgood access to the surface that it will bemounted.

HZZLessThe all new HzzLess™ preamp circuit is aspecial design that not only reduces signalnoise but, because it integrates with B-Bandpickups more closely, it also increases thesignal output. All B-Band pickups are madewith the relatively new invention Emfit film.The pickups have special properties andnow the B-Band developers have to comeup with a way to harness those specialspecifications into a higher and cleaner out-put that can be better used by everyday pro-fessional sound electronics.

The results are an respectable 6dB high-er signal output with a 9dB reduction in sig-nal noise. The user will find how easy thenew louder volume will fit with their equip-ment and will be knocked out by the hugetone that is produced. Clean and loud!

The HzzLess preamp circuit is now pre-sented in the A1.2, A2.2, A3T and A5Tpreamps. Soon to be applied to all B-Bandpreamps.

XOM CircuitThe XOM (Cross Over Mix) system com-bines the best aspects of each pickup intoone complete source. By sensing the guitarfrom two separate locations and combiningwhat each pickup does best, the XOM sys-tem has a very rich and complex sound thatfurther augments the already superiorsounding Emfit film pickups.

The ideal process for authentic acousticsound comes from combining the high fre-quencies of the AST and the low frequen-cies of the UST, making a sound that ismuch more complex, true and pure. In addi-tion, the XOM pan pot allows the player toselect between UST / AST mix and the USTalone or one of the many possibilities in-between for unlimited possibilities.

The player will find the XOM to be anamazingly flexible sound manager resultingin an elegant transparent tone at any per-formance level.

The A3T is new for 2007 but it still retainsthe simple and small features that are big onsound and intuitiveness. The compactpreamp has a 4-band rotary EQ, low batteryLED and a wide range chromatic tuner. TheEQ provide quick and accurate changes. Thechromatic tuner is fast and has a range thatwill be welcomed buy customers that wantto tune a full step down from standard- greatfor 12-string guitars too! The tuner will showall notes, including sharps, great for stand-ard and open tunings. The tuner has a singlewindow showing the pitch and four LEDsshowing the half step, sharp, flat and in-tune. 9-volt battery powered.

EQ Preamps for One Pickup

A7 and A9The A9 is for the guitarist who takes astraightforward approach to their sound andwants more quality EQ possibilities andfeedback control at their fingertips. Easy touse and view slider controls are used for theextra smooth 4-band EQ that include bass,middle, treble and presence bands. The vol-ume slider is set at a right angle from theEQ sliders to provide quick changes whennot viewing.

Set aside from the from the master con-trol section, for easier application, is theNotch Depth and Notch Frequency rotarycontrols and a phase switch for feedbacksuppression, plus a low battery LED. Thesingle input A9 can take advantage of eitherthe UST or AST transducers and is 9-voltbattery powered. The battery compartmentis conveniently mounted next to the controlsfor easy access and battery changes.

The A7 has volume and 4-band EQ con-trols. The volume and tone controls are allof the slider type. The single input A7 canuse either the UST or AST pickups and is 9-volt battery powered. The battery compart-ment is conveniently mounted next to thecontrols for easy access and battery chang-es.

The A7 and A9 dimensions allow for easyreplacement of either the smaller or largerversions of common old-style preamps. Thekits come complete with all hardware need-ed for installing and includes a pre-wiredhigh quality endpin.

EQ Preamps for Two Pickups

The A8 and A10 preamps have two in-puts for UST and AST, with XOM, with in-put trims for both, for accurate balanceadjustments, slider volume and 3-bandEQ controls. The A10 also features anotch filter and frequency control andphase button. Both active preamps are 9-volt powered either by an onboard batteryor by the B-Box phantom power source.

The A8 and A10 dimensions allow foreasy replacement of either the smaller orlarger versions of common old-stylepreamps. The battery compartment isconveniently mounted next to the controlsfor easy access and battery changes.

All mounting hardware is included withthe A8 and A10 kits.

The A11 is a single input, for UST or ASTpickup, 9-volt powered preamp and fea-tures active remote controls for volume,treble and bass at standard rotary pots.The preamp is easily mounted anywhereinside the guitar. The system comes com-plete with the three pots on a long ribbonwire, so the pots can be installed at thesoundboard, side, or shoulder of the guitar.The system is useful for example for up-grading from other manufacturers three-pot configurations. The A11 also workswell on solid body guitars that have acous-tic bridge.

The A11 kit includes all mounting hard-ware, output jack and cable, battery holderand wire harness.

A2.2 with XOM*The A2.2 with it’s dual input / single outputonboard preamp, for use with theUST and AST combination excels in per-formance over any other preamp of thistype. The A2.2 includes the XOM techniquewith mix control to bring the best of theUST and AST characters together resultingin a sound that is true to the guitars uniquevoice in any performance venue. The A2.2 is also great for resonator gui-tars with spider or biscuit bridges. Usingthe A2.2 system in a resonator guitar issimple. The UST pickup goes under thesaddle and the AST is simply attached tothe resonator cone. In this way both pick-ups pickup the sound like no other system- At the Source! No other manufactured sys-tem does this. The control pad of the A2.2simply mounts at the sound hole of the gui-tar. An optional 9-volt battery phantompower supply is available. The A2.2 has a small remote control padwith a volume and mix control that mountswithout modification at the inside edge ofa guitar's soundhole. The preamp is housedin a lightweight all-metal box and can bemounted inside the guitar at the side orback and is powered with a 9-volt battery. At the preamp there are two input gaintrim controls for both the UST and AST tomatch input levels. The entire system in-stalls easily with very minor modifications-one small drill hole each for the pickup andendpin jack. For fast connections all com-ponents plug in without soldering.

All mounting hardware, including a highquality endpin jack and box-tight batteryholder, are supplied.

The A1.2 is the little brother of the “nowclassic” B-Band Core / A2 preamps and isbig on classic B-Band sound. The single in-put A1.2 has a direct frequency responsewith 24 dB of gain making a perfect fit withthe B-Band UST (not included). The 1470AST can alternatively be fitted with the A1.2if the user is looking for a more flat re-sponse than that if the A1.2N. Either way,the sound reproduction is amazingly pureand clear.

The B-Band A1.2N-1470 bundle includesa special version of the A1.2 that has aslight frequency notch of 6 decibels in thelow-midrange giving the system a smoothacoustic sound at louder volume levels andis packaged along with, and for use only,with the 1470 AST. This gives the user greattone at a great value. The A1.2N-1470 canbe used in any acoustic guitar, or similarinstruments, that has good access to theirinterior.

Both the A1.2 and A1.2N come with avolume control that simply mounts at theinside edge of the sound hole with adhe-sive. The 9-volt battery powered electronicsare mounted in a small tube that is directlycoupled with a high quality endpin jackmaking an all-in-one structure. As an op-tion, the A1.2 or A1.2N can be phantompowered with the B-Band external batterybox. The structure is light in mass adding verylittle weight to the instrument. Both kits in-clude all mounting hardware, box-tight bat-tery holder and wire harness.

B-BAND B-BOX 9-VOLT PHANTOMPOWER BATTERY BOXThe B-Band phantom power is a small exter-nal box that uses a standard 9-volt batteryto power any of the current 2007 B-Bandpreamps. With the use of a standard 1/4”TRS to TRS (stereo to stereo) plug type ca-ble, the battery box can send power to theonboard preamp. If you do not want to havea battery in your guitar, the preamp can bephantom powered be the B-Box. The batterybox has a standard 1/4” output jack for cableconnection to a mixer or amplifier.

B-BAND SADDLEThe B-Band designed Tusq™ saddle byGraph Tech Inc. is a version of the commoncompensated "B" string saddle that im-proves the overall pickup balance for guitarswith a 2.9mm / 1/8" saddle slot. The designmakes all the string angles behind the sad-dle the same; making the downward pres-sure on the pickup even, while keeping the"B" string intonation correct. The B-Band DM* series is the best mikingsolution for drummers and will change theway of miking a drum kit. The DM seriesincludes the DST* (Drum Shell Transducer)transducer and DM preamps. Easily at-tached to any drum, without any modifica-tion, the DM system delivers an immediatefull-response tone without feedback or thepositioning issues associated with standardmicrophones. The DM system only picks up the soundof the drum it’s attached to! There is nobleed of sound from other drums or instru-ments on stage or in the studio, making forincredible isolation of the drum that is usingthe DM system. Keeping with the B-Band philosophy, theDM system is very lightweight and does notadd any noticeable weight to the drum. TheDM is unobtrusive and virtually invisible andwill not get in the way of any performingstyle. Yet, even with these values, the trans-ducer is very durable and robust, and willendure rigorous touring. The DST will workwith any trap style drum. The DM preamp range consists of threedifferent models: DM-S* with XOM forsnare, DM-T* for toms and DM-K* for bassdrum. All DM preamps fit easily to the drumrim and are held in place by an adjustablefinger screw. The preamps have a standardXLR output jack and are 48-volt phantompowered. The DM-S has two inputs, one input forthe DST and a 1/8” mini jack auxiliary input

for an optional dynamic microphone. Whenthe aux mic input is enabled, the B-BandXOM circuit is activated and a 2 kHz highpass filter is applied to DST and 2 kHz lowpass filter for microphone. XOM provides asmooth and wider frequency range to theblended sound. Four mini switches at thepreamp provide settings for the control oftone and optional 9-volt phantom powersupply to an extra condenser mic. Four miniswitches at the preamp provide settings forthe contour of tone and for use of extra dy-namic mic. The DM-T is a single input preamp andwill work with any size rack or floor tom. TheDM-T has four mini switches for controllingthe tone on the output signal.

The DM-K is a single input preamp andhas four mini switches for controlling thetone of the output signal.

D1 DOUBLE BASS SYSTEMThe D1 system's sound is warm, tight, anddynamic and has plenty of headroom toplay your instrument loud! The D1 double bass has been developedin close coordination with technicians andartists. The D1 system includes a simpleand unobtrusive active preamp that is anall-in-one construction with the 1/4"outputjack. This attaches easily onto the two mid-dle strings between the bridge and tail-piece. The 9-volt battery clip simply attach-es to the tailpiece with Velcro. The B-Band D1 system also includesthree easy-to-install transducers* and areplaced –two at the wing slots of the bridge,using non-adhesive cork shims, and thethird under the foot of the bridge’s bassside, using the string pressure on thebridge to hold it in place. Inside the preampthere is a user mix control to set the bal-ance between the bridge and the bodysound for exact replication of your instru-ments unique tone.
