CAUTION: This email originated from outside of RPS.

Hi Sinead,  I think this chemistry will suffice for an application this year but more sampling etc will be required next year, and at three yearly intervals from then.   Best regards, Margot

From: Sinead Henry  Sent: 23 January 2019 10:36 To: Margot Cronin <[email protected]> Subject: RE: [EXT] RE: Foynes/Limerick Dock‐ Maintenance Dredging  Hi Margot,  The current dumping at sea permit was issued on 22nd January 2013, and was valid for 6 years, so it expired yesterday.  SFPC are therefore seeking to obtain their new application as soon as possible.  SFPC have met with EPA recently, and agreed that they would be seeking an 8 year DAS permit.  The annual quantities involved are as per the most recent permit (see extract below):

Maximum 276,000T of loading and dumping per annum (max 2,208,000T over 8 years)

Maximum 16,000T plough dredging per annum (max 128,000T over 8 years)

The 2017 sediment analysis was undertaken as part of the Schedule B Monitoring requirements in their most recent Dumping at Sea Permit (see extract below).    I’ve also attached the 2017 results spreadsheet, colour coded where possible to identify the classes of the contamination (I wasn’t sure how to classify Al, Li, HCH and HCB).  We note that in many cases, the Class 2 material is just above the Class 1 thresholds.

From: Margot Cronin [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 22 January 2019 17:57 To: Sinead Henry Subject: [EXT] RE: Foynes/Limerick Dock- Maintenance Dredging  Hi Sinead,  That depends. The sampling and analysis are valid for three years, as long as the material is considered clean (material from the Ted Russel dock has been class 2 or even class3, on occasion, in the past). When is current DaS permit up?  Also, what are the quantities involved and the duration of permit they are going for next time?
