The Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme aims to develop the program area to be a 1st class region to live, study, work, visit and invest by harnessing innovation, expanding the capacity for entrepreneurship and seizing the unique growth initiatives and opportunities in a resource efficient way.
Background
• Forestry is a significant contributor to rural economies in Nordic countries, and its importance is growing rapidly in Scotland and Ireland
• Poor profitability, increasing and diversified demand for forestry services call for developing business management skills of the enterpreneurs providing various services to the forest industry
• Ability to acquire new skills is often constrained by long distances to training possibilities and a lack of time

To enhance the business competitiveness of forestry service enterprises in the NPA regions of Finland, Sweden, Scotland and Ireland by:
promoting the development of innovative business models
providing tools for increasing operational efficiency
developing and piloting the use of digital platforms for knowledge transfer, networking and trading of services
