This proposed design intends to use the landscape as an extension of the classroom, with a focus on complimenting the schools syllabus through teaching the children about the environment. With a sensible and sustainable solution this open space offers a unique setting for individual and group development. The location can work to our advantage, promoting significant trees in the environment, planting combinations that are not just interactive but demonstrate carbon capture, and moving the landscape towards a more challenging terrain. The proposed design includes:
- Natural amphitheatre for outdoor learning- Inclusive and sensory interaction within the landscape incorporating recycled and natural materials- Natural planting that creates connections within the landscape and direct movement at various levels, including challenge with logs, levels changes, step stones and natural hurdles- Creative use of space to enable children’s exploration and education of the natural environment and the eco system created by the substantial Fig Tree- Planting structures that offer interest whilst still being sustainable and child friendly- Places for children to explore as groups, to make new friends, to help each other and maybe interacting in a different way and learning new things about nature- A space to take time out, to have a moment to themselves and let their imagination run freeEach space delivers a number of different activities and outcomes for the children utilising items that offer multitude of functions
