Late nIGHt LeCtureAn elderly man driving erratically was stopped by the police around 2 a.m. and was asked where he was going at that time of night. The man replied, “I’m on my way to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on the human body, as well as smoking and staying out late.”The officer then asked, “Really? Who is giving that lecture at this time of night?”The man replied, “That would be my wife.”

Those who are signed up for Face book, Twitter or any other on line social media – listen up.When you sign in they ask for your birthday. Although it is nice for your friends to send to you happy wishes, please be very careful. Give to them the Month, Date and NOT the correct year. Use a year that keeps you over 18 but not the real year. If you have already signed in with your real year, please edit the account.

Reason being – the hackers have a head start on your account information if they have your correct birth date. We have all been asked for it and other than Doctors, Banks, Attorneys, or some official person that needs it. DO NOT give to them the correct year. You will lessen your chances of getting hacked a whole lot. Bank Hackers love Face book. Please keep your money safe.

The Computer Club will meet beginning in the fall. We are a group of friendly people who meet every Thursday, 2 - 4 PM to help each other with computer issues. If you have a problem related to computers, or a skill you think might benefit others, YOU ARE WHO WE NEED IN OUR CLUB! Please come and join the group. Membership costs $10/household per winter season. We take a break and have coffee and cookies around 3 PM to socialize. Most members use Windows, but some use Macs or Linux and most software programs are compatible with each system. Each week, we usually have a person show something they are experienced in, or we focus on a particular problem. In many cases, the club can help fix the problem. If not, we can usually define the situation, to assist if professional help is needed. If you have a particular interest, a new piece of equipment like an iPad or similar tablet or I-Phone thatyou would like to show and demonstrate, please join us. This also includes your friends and family who might be visiting. u.s. MaIL trauMaBy Jack Watson

Attached below, is a copy of my letter to the Postmaster at our Post Office in N. Ft. Myers, FL. I have listened to everyone complain about the lousy service of late and in talking with other mail carriers they advised us to flood the N. Ft. Myers Post Office with complaints. They are well aware of the problem but have decided to turn a blind eye to it. So feel free to write your own letter to the Postmaster here in N. Ft. Myers and let them know how you feel and hope for a change as soon as possible.

(Copy of my letter mailed on May 16, 2013)May 15, 2013

United States Post OfficeWeavers CornerN. Ft. Myers, FL 33917Attn: Post Master

Dear Postmaster,

My name is John Watson and I live at 513 Timberlane South in the Forest Park Mobil Home Division. I have lived at this address for 13 years. We are a member

owned park of approximately 433 units and I am also on the Board of Directors.

I am appalled at the decline in the postal service we have been receiving as of late. For some reason our status has been lowered from a full route to an auxiliary route. The new carriers you have hired to deliver our mail are in no way qualified to handle our route.

We are a senior park and therefore mail is our lifeblood. We receive Social Security and Pension checks regularly, medications, not to mention invoices to be paid in a timely fashion. I have watched your carriers deliver to one side of a street and leave the park without servicing the other side. I’ve seen carriers go past my house two and three times in a given day looking for addresses they should know on a regular basis. We in the park play “mail shuffle” running up and down the area delivering mail delivered incorrectly to us.

When we moved here 13 years ago, our mail carrier was Fred, an extremely efficient and personable carrier and we never had any problems under his watch. After Fred retired Cindy, took over our route. Again, as before she was also extremely efficient and very personable and always willing to help in any way she could. For some reason last fall you changed our status and transferred Cindy and now we have no permanent assigned carrier.

I feel this is totally unacceptable and hope you will take this matter under advisement and return Forest Park back to our original status and the dependable postal service that was taken away from us. I would appreciate hearing from you and knowing your comments regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

John A. Watson513 Timberland SouthNorth Fort Myers, FL 33917239-731-1034

1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window to make my return a little easier.3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste… And taste means there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have. 4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it. 5. If it snows while you’re out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house.. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway. 6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don’t let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it’s set. That makes it too easy. 7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom – and your jewelry. It’s not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too. 8. It’s raining, you’re fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door – understandable. But understand this: I don’t take a day off because of bad weather.9. I always knock first. If you answer, I’ll ask for directions somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don’t take me up on it.)10. Do you really think I won’t look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table, and the medicine cabinet.11. Here’s a helpful hint: I almost never go into kids’ rooms.12. You’re right: I won’t have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it’s not bolted down, I’ll take it with me.13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system. If you’re reluctant to leave your TV on while you’re out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television. no matter what your job is, you should always try to make it more interesting...

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'

The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'

That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.'

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

So, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Jokes

tHe roaD trIP (a “senior” joke)

While on a road trip, an elderly couple, stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant, and resumed their trip. When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table, and she didn't miss them until they had been driving for about forty minutes. By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before they could find a place to turn around, in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses. All the way back, the elderly husband became the classic grouchy old man. He fussed and complained, and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive. The more he chided her, the more agitated he became. He just wouldn't let up for a single minute. To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant. As the woman got out of the car, and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the old geezer yelled to her, “While you're in there, you might as well get my hat and the credit card.”

“For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.”

Sir Winston Churchill

"On this June day the buds in my garden are almost as enchanting as the open flowers. Things in bud bring, in the heat of a June noontide, the recollection of the

loveliest days of the year - those days of May when all is suggested, nothing yet fulfilled."

- Francis King

Thanks for all who helped at the end of the winter and at the beginning of the summer with the Neighborhool Watch Patrol scheduling. Normally, we patrol six months on and six months off.

Plil and Marilyn Rich and Art and Marti Baker filled in at the end of the winter. Helping during the beginning of May were Jack and Judy Watson, Lou and Helen Smith, Bob and Kathy Carson, Art Lammers and Pete and Pat Mayer. The extra month helping was greatly appreciated.

When traveling via the fast lane thru the air DO NOT give to your cat a nip to mellow it out before traveling. It seems cat nip sets off the druggies at the airport. Just ask, Nancy Cooper. We hear, back in Forest Park, via the grapevine, that the hand search was done very nice and gently by a very good looking man who could have been a Chippendale. We are sure she enjoyed every touch!

Bob Cooper went to a Beauty school yesterday for a haircut. He ended up being a model for them.
