Forged mill rolls are one of the main products of PJSC “EMSS”. The current investment projects under the program of renovation and modernization of production facilities significantly improve our technological capabilities.

We are constantly expanding the rolls' range, including development the production of very large backup rolls for heavy plate mills.

All of this allows PJSC “ENERGOMASHSPETSSTAL” to become one of the most world known producers of mill rolls.

Forged rolls for different types of rolling mills represent one of the main types of products produced by PJSC

“ENERGOMASHSPETSSTAL” (“EMSS”). Starting in 2000, annual volume of mill rolls’ output increased to 10 000 tons

(potential volume is 15 000 tons).

Manufacture of hot work rolls is mastered for blooming mills, section mills, rail-and-structural mills and hot strip mills

roughing stands from conventional roll's steel grades 50, 55Õ, 60ÕÍ, 75ÕÌÔ, 90ÕÔ that were heat-treated

(normalized). Sheet mill edger rolls, pipe mill rolls, and boll mill sleeves also refer to this type of rolls.

Having technology and equipment of differential hardening (DH) allow manufacture expand range of backup rolls for

hot and cold rolling strip mills. Rapid-heating furnace (RHF) and controlled air-and-water cooling unit (sprayer) are

operated as part of DH site. Normalization is used as intermediate heat treatment for providing necks’ hardness and

backup rolls’ mechanical properties. And differential hardening of body to required hardness is used as final heat

treatment.

Production of large and extra large (up to 250 tons of weight) backup rolls for heavy plate mills is being mastered at

increase rate. Except conventional steel grades, wide range of special high-alloy steel grades (up to 5.0% of chromium

/ Cr, up to 1.0% of molybdenum / Mo, and complex alloying with other carbide-forming elements) is used for backup

rolls manufacture at PJSC “EMSS”.

Our enterprise also manufactures blanks for cold rolling mill work, intermedia and small backup roll of high-quality

alloy steel grades with 2…3% chromium / Cr content for the known producers of forged cold mill rolls .

Steel forging ignots of 3,6 tons to 415 tons weight are used for rolls manufacture at PJSC “EMSS”. Steel for mill rolls is

made in 100 tons and 50 tons electric arc furnaces (EAF) with subsequent ladle-furnace refining and in chamber

vacuum degassing unit. Forging is carried out on automated forging complexes of 31.5MN, 60MN and 150MN using

advanced technologies.

Mill rolls’ machining is performed on modern CNC machines and machining units of known world manufacturers:

HERKULES (Germany), TOS KURIM and SKODA (Czech Republic) and KZTS (Ukraine).

Productions’ manufacture is controlled by enterprise’s Technical Control Department at all stages of technological

cycle. Quality Management System of PJSC “EMSS” is certified for compliance with the international standard ISO

9001:2008.

Quality management system of PJSC “Energomashspetsstal” is developed in accordance with requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2000 and has functioned from 2004. The compliance with Quality management system of PJSC “EMSS” is confirmed by certificate “TUV CERT”. It should be mentioned that the certificates obtained by enterprise are not only the high estimate of quality of manufactured production but also successful performance of Quality management system that is regularly inspected by certification agency “TUV NORD”.

The proof of superior quality of output production bearing the trademark of “Energomashspetsstal” is an availability of certificates of such technical classification foundations as “Lloyd's Register”, “ABS”, “Bureau Veritas”, “Det Norske Veritas”, “Germanischer Lloyd”.

Since 2010 international standard ISO 9001:2008 “Quality management system. Requirement” is introduced at PJSC “Energomahspetstal” instead of ISO 9001:2000
