2005: Growth Management Act update mapping - updated land-use planning maps for the City Limits and surrounding Urban Growth Area

2006: A Comprehensive Data Infrastructure built, GPS Technology acquisition, initial GPS and GIS training, utilities mapping concepts introduced (fire hydrants, manhole covers)

2007: Extended capacity for using GIS and GPS – utilities crew trained to collect GPS data on their own, investigated other departmental use (Police, Fire, Planning), Transit mapping, Cemetery, City Treasurer draft map, tourism map, integration of Engineering data into ForksGIS

Overview of Current Assets: Information is an

Asset only when it is useable

ForksGIS 2008

2008: Integrating and using ForksGIS – Focus on Utilities:

Tying all together and creating the Decision Support Tools that all city departments can use.

• build the data model of potable and wastewater systems

• “geocode” addresses for water meters and other uses

• investigate visualization tools for decision support

• build fully functional in-house capacity

• Cemetery map book and website (With Kim, intern)

• ForksOnline alternatives (cost savings, easy implementation)
