Form + Formwork ARCH 2211 Construction Technology and Design Integration I Charles Rudolph, Instructor Goals: Understanding the concept of formwork in the construction process associated with casting of a liquid material (concrete / plaster of paris). Demonstrate both design and craft in modeling the negative of the shape intended for final casting with plaster of paris. Understanding the importance of light in architecture.. Instructions Design an architectural monolithic object no larger than 12”x12”x12”. Provide drawings of the formwork that will be required to produce the object. Construct the formwork with foamcore, masonite panel or thick chipboard. Ensure that the built formwork is strong enough to contain the weight of the Plaster of Paris.
