PART – F

Please specify the characterizations (in terms of the composition of quantum) of hazardous as well as

solid wastes and indicate disposal practice adopted for both these categories of wastes.

The solid waste generated inside ABRPL project site, which is under construction phase (only 5.2% of

total construction activity till 31st Mar 2020) during FY 2019-2020, are of non-hazardous in nature and

categorically those are incinerable waste, non-incinerable but re-usable waste and bio-degradable waste. After

collection of waste from the various sources, wastes are segregated and kept in demarcated locations and later,

the same are shifted to Solid waste disposal yard inside NRL premises. Non-hazardous bio-degradable waste

are disposed off at low laying areas within the construction site itself.

PART – G

Impact of the pollution abatement measures taken on the conservation of natural resources and the cost

of production.

A bamboo nursery spanning an area of 1.8 acres is being developed for the purpose of periphery

plantation. A mass scale bamboo plantation is being adopted throughout the biomass sourcing areas.

Sustainable harvesting practice for conservation of bamboo population shall be adopted, and for the same

cause, farmers are being trained.

PART – H

Additional measures/investment proposal for environmental protection including abatement of

pollution, prevention of pollution.

An ambitious green belt plan is under development to ensure the prevention of pollution and protection

to the environment. A green belt of 10 m width is to be developed to act as a barrier for air pollutants and

noise. Plantation has been carried out along the approach roadside to the ABRPL project site.

PART – I

Any other particulars for improving the quality of the environment.

In the last few years, the Government of India has been pushing for self-sufficiency in petroleum

products by replacing fossil fuels with renewable resources and one of the major thrust areas has been to

replace petrol Gasoline with ethanol produced from biomass (2G ethanol) up to 20% by 2020. Towards

fulfillment of this National objective of attaining self-sufficiency in energy and reducing the fossil fuel

footprint, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has joined hands with two Finnish companies viz M/s Fortum

and M/s Chempolis, a joint venture company namely Assam Bio-Refinery Pvt. Limited has been incorporated,

to make a strategic entry into the field of producing ethanol, from cellulosic feedstock ‘Bamboo’.
