Jay, bullpen shutdown Cardinals, 3-0, to complete sweepMiracle starter Tyler Jay turned in his best start as a professional delivering 6.1 scoreless innings. Giving up only five hits, Jay walked two and struck out a season-high seven to lower his ERA to 3.86. Brandon Peterson entered in the seventh and stranded three base-runners. Peterson tossed a perfect eighth and Luke Bard recorded a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his second save of the season. The first Miracle run came in the second inning on a Logan Wade RBI sacrifice fly. Two more Fort Myers runs scored in the top of the sixth when Trey Vavra was struck by a pitch with the bases loaded and Alex Swim knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly to left. The Miracle completed the first se-ries sweep of the season in the final three of a nine-game road trip at Roger Dean Stadium. Fort Myer went 6-3 on the road trip and return home for five of the next seven games.

Outfield collision lands Gordon on the disabled listOn Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium, a seemingly harmless pop up to right center field ended with a collision of two Miracle bodies, Nick Gordon and Chad Christensen. Danny Diekroeger’s shallow fly ball sent four Miracle position players sprinting to the same spot. Christensen dove and Gordon slid, the two crashing into one another. Gordon caught the ball, but he and Christensen remained on the ground for an extended period of time and both exited the game. Gordon was placed on the disabled list with a concussion.

Injury bug bites the Twins system, Miracle roster shaken upFrom the MLB club to the lower levels of the minor leagues, the Minnesota Twins have experienced a rash of injuries a little over a month into the sea-son. Nick Gordon joins Engelb Vielma in Chattanooga on the disabled list, so the Twins promoted Ryan Walker to Double-A. The two roster spots in Fort Myers will be occupied by Sean Miller and Tanner Witt. Miller, a shortstop, was promoted from Cedar Rapids (A) where he was hitting just .171. Witt is a minor league free agent signing and last played affiliated baseball with the Frederick Keys (A+) in 2015 with the Baltimore Orioles system.

Miracle homer streak ends at Roger Dean StadiumLast year, the Miracle had the least amount of home runs in the Florida State League and in team history with only 27 over the course of the season. Despite the lack of over-the-fence power, the Miracle still posted the most wins in the FSL South with 76. In 2016, the Miracle have already launched 13 home runs and are on pace for 65. The Miracle homer streak of seven in a row ended on Wednesday. Nine of the 13 homers have been solo shots. Chad Christensen, Alex Real, Trey Vavra and Edgar Corcino each have two homers a piece to lead to the club. The Miracle have three home runs in the last two games at Roger Dean Stadium.
