The third movie about Bilbo Bag-gins’s adventures

called “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”

created by Peter Jackson will be re-leased in 10.12.2014. A very nice Christ-

mas present for the fans. Is not it?Peter Jackson divided the book with 230 pages into three movies. We can see how he enjoys the production, directing and try to represent every small detail or

action from the book.Maybe is it wrong to torture fans this

way and end every part with an intrigue moment?

However, Peter Jackson loves Tolkien’s universe and because of that he try to

catch every moment from this book and create it in his movies.

The final part about Billbo’s hike should be brilliant and breathtaking.

The trailer shows the moments of the battle scenes and anxious Billbo’s face. The song from “The Lord of the Rings”

was singed by Pippin to Denethor. The amazing cast with Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evan-

geline Lilly, Lee Pace, Benedict Cumber-batch will participate in the final battle

for Lonely Mountain. In only first day the official trailer was viewed by 6 million people in the Warner

Bros. web site.

Behind the SceneToo many people are involved to film production. However, we can see

just the final product. Cinema industry is very huge and various. One of the main roles is editing after filming. It is long and painstaking

process. People who choose editing as a profession should be calm, crea-tive and diligent. Xenia Sheenkova shared secrets of editing, explain about the difficulties and features. “During my first years at the university I was trying to do as much practical filming as I could to experiment with camerawork, lighting and editing to improve and develop better skills. I used to work on 2-3 projects a month that were not a part of out course and I enjoyed being behind the camera. But gradually I noticed how much I am looking forward to come to the editing laboratory and start looking through rushes and put the shots together.” - she said.

For her it is like a puzzle that she can manipulate and create different sto-ries using same shots but different juxtaposition. It is certainly interesting to cut something people filmed before, but it is much more interesting to edit a story without being involved in the filming process, because the puz-zle gets more complicat-ed and intriguing to work on. Editor is a storytell-er, equally to the screen-writer and director, because the editor is the one putting the shots to-gether so it would create a coherent storyline. So Xenia likes the way editing makes her brain work and play with visuals. This job is not for intro-verts and socialphobiac people. Person should can work in a team, find compromises and be gen-tle.

“I don’t have significant difficulties at work, I had a few challenges at some points, but everything is manageable. The latest difficulty I had is creating a new way of organising files, projects and ren-ders. If many people are involved in editing of one project then everyone has to stick to a certain organisation plan that is clear and familiar to everyone.” – she said Some people are less diligent and careful with files, so this can cause problems and Xenia has to track where some-thing went wrong and tell people off. This is her least favourite part of the job, but she still enjoy it in a way. Because it is her way to express herself and prove some-thing to people. Co-work-ers can describe Xenia as a hard-working, polite,

one project then everyone has to stick to a certain organisation plan that is clear and familiar to

everyone.”

responsible and kind-hearted person. She always does her work in time and always is ready to help or explain something to others. “Editting familiar with shots and thinking how to create a story out of given material. That’s the main struggle and pleasure when you are brain-storming how to put it together in an interesting way. Also colour grad-ing is one of the favourite aspects of my job. I love the feeling of having the finished edit, but it still has dull colours, so colour grading pro-cess is when the film becomes beautiful and gets personality and style.”- she said.

Cinematherapy or how to cope with

depressionAnnually almost 150 million people in the world lose their jobs

because of depression.

Loren was suffered from depression since she was 19 year-old. Doctors, medicines, group therapies did not work and nothing cannot help her to get rid of this mental disease. She was horribly terrified and scared.

“Depression is like a sentence. You just need to deal with it and move on.” – she said.

However, she found one unusual way to help herself for free. “I do not remember how I discovered this therapy, but I decided to try.” Loren found a list of movies which help to cope with depression.

“It is my top 3 of the funniest movies in the world. I know, many people face depression, even in autumn time.” - she said

It is not a panacea and it is not a replacement for professional treatment, but it can be an additional thing for your cure.

depression

YES MAN Directed by Peyton Reed USA/Australia, 104 min, 2008, Universal PicturesStaring Jim Carrey, Zooey Deschanel, Bradely Cooper

The main character suffered from depression always told “no”. “No” for his friends if they asked him out. But, one day he made am agreement in which promised always to answer “yes” to each offer.

Comment from Loren: Jim Carrey made me laugh a lot. I love him and all his roles. However, I choose exactly this movie, because it is funny and instructive at the same time. I became more motivated after this movie and tried to do the experiment like that. I decided to tell everyone “yes”. It was humorous.

AMERICAN SPLENDOR Directed by Shari S. Berman USA, 101 min, 2003, HBO Films

Comment from Loren:

A true fan of writers-realists Harvey created hisown “Amer-ican Splendor” a truthful description of a working class and his hard-hitting portrait. These comic books were published in 1976 and brought him a fame. However, he and his co-author Joyce Brabner faced with the consequence of popularity.

This movie is powerful. I cannot understand why this film left without attention of many cimena-lovers. Delicate, lyrical, reflective, neurotic, philosophical, absurd, but at the same time life-affirming movie. I liked the sound of sad jazz as a soundtrack. This movie is about us. About usual people, who have a dream and believe that it can become a true.

Staring Paul Giamatti, Hope Davis, Judah Friedlander

INTOUCHABLESDirected by Olivier Nakache France, 102 min, 2011, A contracorriente filmsStaring François Cluzet, Omar Sy, Anne Le Ny

After a serious injury rich aristocrat Philippe hires an assis-tant, who recently was released from the prison. Despite this fact that Philippe is disabled, Driss tries to change aristocrat’s life and makes it more adventurous.

Comment from Loren: This movie left a pleasant impression. I love French cinematog-raphy. I can describe it as extraordinary, sincere and soulful. The movie like that should be produced for callous people of 21 century. “Intouchables” became a nice surprise for me. I felt in love with the cast, soundtrack and the plot.
