It was the title for a sermon. The title intrigued me. The meaning of the phrase is not an actual call to return to the city of Jerusalem but a call to return to the word of God. Specifically, it is a call to return to the word of God as it was described in Acts 2:42 which occurred in the city of Jerusalem. That verse reads as follows: They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42 NIV) The teaching of the apostles is the teaching they heard from Jesus. We have Jesus words given to us in the words of the apostles recorded for us in the New Testament. We are to abide in those words. John, one of the apostles, gives this warning. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. (2 John 1:9 NIV) So, we in fact move forward in our walk with Jesus when we go back. Go back to the words of Jesus. Go back to the Bible. Forward, back to the Bible. -Dewayne Volume 40 February 25, 2020 No. 8

Forward, Back To Jerusalem

I first saw the phrase used in the title in a sermon outline book. That verse reads as follows:

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42 NIV)

The teaching of the apostles is the teaching they heard from Jesus. We have Jesus’ words given to us in the words of the apostles recorded for us in the New Testament. We are to abide in those words. John, one of the apostles, gives this warning.

Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

(2 John 1:9 NIV)

So, we in fact move forward in our walk with Jesus when we go back. Go back to the words of Jesus. Go back to the Bible. Forward, back to the Bible. -Dewayne

Digital Awareness Many have responded with desire to attend this workshop. We are opening it up to 5th grade - 12th grades. If you are a grandparent of this age group, you are also welcome to attend, but we ask that anyone desiring to attend, please call the church office to let us know you will be here in order for us to ensure we have adequate seating and food provided. We look forward to a very enlightening and productive evening together.

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law

day and night.3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit

in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. (Ps. 1:1-3 NIV)

Molder of Dreams

“A Grand Celebration”

Friday, March 13

6:30 p.m.

Our annual Molder of Dreams banquet is only a few weeks away. All kindergarten through 6th graders are encouraged to invite their teachers, coaches, or mentors to this banquet. Remember to RSVP by emailing [email protected]. Please also take several pictures of your child with their teacher. These pictures can be silly, candid shots and we will include them in the slideshow presentation. All reservations need to be made by Sunday, March 8 so that we will have plenty of time to prepare. Parents, remember if your child is attending with his or her guest you will need to stay at the banquet to help serve food and help clean up.

Summer Parent Meeting

Sunday, March 8

5:00 p.m. in the Reception Room

All parents of children in Adventure Club and Preteens are invited to a parent meeting to discuss all upcoming spring and summer events. We will review the calendar, discuss important dates, and have time for parents to sign up to volunteer for activities.
