For thousands of years, the city of Foshan in Southeastern China has been famed for its tradition of brilliantly-colored pottery. Large pots are individually hand-crafted by skilled artisans, and multiple layers of bright glazes are applied and encouraged to drip and intermingle during the firing process.

This technique produces distinctive pots with an unmistakable look - the signature drips continue to draw retail consumers’ dollars year after year.

This half pallet includes 4 sets of each of the following shapes, assorted in the glazes at right:

One of the hallmarks of the Malaysian pottery tradition has been the use of designs etched through the glazes, exposing raw clay below. Traditionally, these have been simple geometric patterns, while the glazes were basic earthtone colors.

All of that has changed with this collection. Two elegant shapes are glazed with a light wash of bright color, and are engraved with either a whimsical hummingbird or summery dragonfly motif.
