Spiritual Warfare Introduction•As Born Again children of God, we are targets – the moment we gave our lives to Christ, a battle began in the Spirit Realm•To God, we are a target for His blessings but to the devil, we are a target for destruction•There are two realms of operation that we must be aware of:

–The Spirit Realm – Level where God and the devil operate. It is the unseen realm –The Physical Realm – Manifestation of everything that has taken place in the spirit realm

•Although we live in the physical realm, we have the ability to handle situations in the spirit – 2 Cor 10:3-6•Facts to know about the warring in the spirit realm:

–Because Jesus has already won the battle on the cross, we are assured of victory – Col. 2:14-15 –Jesus has given us the power and authority over all the forces of darkness – Luke 10:19–We must maintain the victory – Eph 6:13–We must recognize that the devil is our enemy – 2 Cor. 2:11

•Satan is a fallen angel•He was the anointed covering cherub appointed of God in heaven

•He was beautifully fashioned from precious stones and musical instruments

•His beauty caused him to sin and rebel and for this reason was cast out of heaven

•Satan is also known as Lucifer and is often referred to as “the devil” – Ezek 28:11-19; Is 14:12-15; Rev 12:7-9

•Facts to note about satan:– He is not omnipresent but has agents who have various assignments– He has an organized system of various principalities – Eph 6: 10-18

Spiritual Warfare What are Demons •Demons are fallen angels, driven out along with Lucifer for rebelling against God•They are evil spirits and do not die•They can take possession of a body•They can influence people to do evil – James 4:7

Spiritual WarfareOur Power over Satan’s Weapon Victory in Christ Jesus•Concentrate on victory in Jesus rather than dwell on the works of the devil•We have the power in the name of Jesus to restrict any evil works

Satan’s Greatest Weapon•The Devil uses fear as an instrument to keep believers oppressed •Fear is the absence of faith and it gives room to various demons •We must learn not to fear

Spiritual WarfareWeapons of our warfare•Weapons of our Warfare are not carnal – 2 Cor 10: 3-5•Following are the main weapons of warfare:

– Prayer– Faith – James 1: 1-7– Holiness – Prov 28:1

•Additional weapons of warfare:– Fasting – Praise and Worship– The Spoken Word of God– The Name of Jesus– The Blood of Jesus

•How to remain victorious:– Be Born Again – John 3:3– Stay Sprit-filled– Maintain fellowship with God and believers– Stay away from evil communications– Dwell in and confess the word of God– Abstain from all appearance of evil– Maintain an offensive stand against the enemy through prayer, fasting and faith

Spiritual WarfareArmor Of GodAn important element in spiritual warfare is the Armor of God. One should “Put On The Whole Armor of God” to defeat evil – Eph 6:10-18

A breakdown of the Whole Armor of God is analyzed below:•The Whole armor of God – every part of God’s Armor is essential to stand against evil•Loins girt with the Belt of Truth (Defensive Weapon) – Truth is like a belt •Breastplate of righteousness (Defensive Weapon) – A breastplate covers all the essential organs of the body, but most importantly, the HEART! Signifies righteousness.•Feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace (Offensive Weapon) – To remain a terror to the enemy, we must constantly preach the gospel.•Shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Defensive Weapon) –Strengthened faith can withstand fear & evil•Helmet of salvation (Defensive Weapon) – Keep our thoughts pure, so that we don't lose our salvation.•Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Offensive Weapon) •Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit (Offensive and Defensive) •Watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all Saints (Offensive and Defensive) – Wait on God irrespective of the issue and continually pray for your brethren

•The devil has been judged and his destiny is indeed hell •As children of God, our destiny is to dwell in God’s Kingdom

– The devil hates this and his goal is to prevent us from our inheritance

– He is determined to ensure that our earthly existence is filled with turmoil and affliction
