It is with sadness that we
report the passing of two of
our Fountain East family in
December:
Kathy Kasparek (#21)
Lynn Walker (# 279)
Please remember that there are dumpsters
located behind the clubhouse specifically for
recycling: cardboard, paper, plastic (#1 & #2),
aluminum cans. Please do not fill up the
garbage dumpsters with these items. Your use of
the recycle bins benefits the association. Also
remember that you can recycle your used
batteries in the basket provided in the clubhouse.
IN CONSIDERATION OF YOURNEIGHBORS, PLEASE BREAK DOWN (NOTJUST FLATTEN) CARDBOARD BOXESWHEN BRINGING THEM TO BE RECYCLED
Do your part to help our environment.
Please note: Mesa has closed all its drop-off
recycling centers so glass containers must now to
in the regular trash.
If someone you know is under the weather, had a
recent surgery, needs a caring thought, please be sure
to contact Aleta Nybakke (#205 480-276-7760)

This is a huge THANK YOU to Brenda Brooks who, each month during our season, inserts advertising flyersand gets the Bubbles ready for distribution. It is a big job, and we need to let her know that we appreciate allshe does. Along with that, we also thank the people who make sure your monthly issue gets to your home. We have been short delivery people this year which meant most deliverers had to double up their routes. Thank you one and all!

The Park Life by
Kari Torgerson FE Association President
Activities are getting cranked
up again in February. Marble
racing resumed in January, and
after the first meeting "for
the money" in January, it was
decided to race every two weeks instead of every
week. So marble racing every 2nd and 4th Thursday
at least through the end of March.
A new activity will start in February on the first and
third Thursdays, Radio Theater. The only skills
needed are to be able to read out loud and be ready
to have some fun. We will have had our first
organizational meeting before this Bubbles comes
out, but never fear, you can still join in. I am looking
at the end of February for the first performance.
Also coming in February is a paint class. This will be
conducted by a Grand Rapids friend of mine, Sharon
Vanous, who winters in Apache Junction. This class
will be held at the clubhouse on February 15 from 1-
3 pm. No painting or artistic skills are required to
have a fun time and go home with an Objet d'Art
painting. We will be painting a desert scene. Sharon
will bring all the equipment and paint, all you have to
do is show up. The cost of the class is $30. Please
sign up and pay by February 12 with me, Kari
Torgerson(#293). Space is limited to 20 people, and
we must have at least 5 people for the class to
happen. I will be signing up people on Saturday
mornings or you can come to my house to sign up.
Be sure to check the calendar. In addition to our
many regular monthly activities, the Chili Cook-Off
is back with a great new format and the addition of
a salsa contest (not the dance but the dip).
Our next association meeting is February 4 at
6:30pm. Please make time to attend as these
meetings are for you.

FEBRUARYThe most important fact lies in the name itself.Februa was a purification ritual and was consideredas early Rome Spring Cleaning Festival. In thisFestival people were ritually washed. Februs, theRoman god was named after this festival. Themost amazing fact about February lies in its oddoriginal name. In Old English, February was calledSolmonath (Mud month) or Kale-monath (Kale orcabbage month). It is the one of the mostcommonly misspelt words in the English language.
Fountain East Ladies’ ClubMargret Atwood, Ladies’ Club President
We were off to France for our
January luncheon. We learned a few
phrases and tried them out on each
other as we experienced tastes of the
country. A busy and efficient group of
ladies made this a very successful
event. Chairman Margret Atwood
thanks Ann Bricker, Jeanne Wadle,
Norma Lanning, Joanne Gignac, Doris
Caldwell (in charge of serving the
punch), Betty Rodgers, Connie Aagard.
A special presentation was made on behalf of the
Fountain East Ladies’ Club to A New Leaf
(represented by Adele Dietrich).
Last year the group raised $650 from basket
raffles in support of a local domestic violence
program. A New Leaf helps men, women and families
in various ways. The Ladies’ Club thanks all those
who helped make this a successful fund-raiser from
those who provided gifts for the baskets to those
who purchased tickets.
