“You created my inmost be-ing; you knit me together inmy mother’s womb.”

Psalm 139:13

The creation of humanlife is a miracle in of it-self. Even with themost advanced scientificbreakthroughs, there issomething special thathappens to a being thatdevelops in a mother’swomb. For that reason,God calls for mothers tobe honored.

All mothers are notgood mothers whenmothers are sometimesdefined as those who

care for the child frombirth to adulthood. Allmothers are not caring ornurturing, but all motherscarry a child that is ablessing to world in theirwomb. In the womb,God does the creation ofthe “inmost being” ofeach person and the“knitting together” of allthe pieces that make eachof us unique beings creat-ed in the image of God.

As we celebrate moth-ers in the month of May,remember the special re-lationship between eachof those mothers andyour creation by God.

For some of us, it is easyto celebrate motherswhile others may havesome challenges celebrat-ing. Regardless, each ofus are living breathingbeings that were formedin a womb of a motherwhere God created ourinmost being and knittedus together to be who weare today. For that, letscelebrate mothers!

A picture of force,A political courseIn abuse of the utmost degree,I saw on a wallIn a prison we callCamp Faith in the quote, DRV.

Forty humans perhapsSit with hands in their laps,Semi-ringed in formation three deep. They taste the next potionWith doubtful emotion,The news of dear Ho’s final sleep.

They slouch in their ragsAs the leadership bragsOf the infinite joys of their landAnd speaks of a mate,How his death they must hate,Of new slogans, old fires to be fanned.

The peasants’ dull trance,That weak mental stance,So inflexibly questioning naught; As a horn on a ladderNow dictates course patterIn a manner that Pavlov had taught.

Men and machines,How strange that their treamsNow seem to reverse in their roles; As the radio trainsAsis’s pushbutton brains ,In these nations of cold-molded souls.

It shackles mens’ mindsWith a truth that one findsThe most flexible, yet so concreteThis riddle, a tumor,A joke without humor,A decaying and dark one-way street.

If one picture can tellOf the fate of that cellOr at least may convey these impressions,How can any man knowWhat cancers must growIn a billion such human secessions?

And who could feel strongerThan we who no longerAre strangers to Uncle’s cruel lash,In this bleak choking lifeFilled with hatred and strife.Engulfed in this great sea of trash.

But I seek no crusadeNor revent to be paidTo the men who fostered such crimesNor to wage revolutionOr force revolutionOn those who must change their own times.

But to alter my dayIn a meaningful wayBy exploiting the will I possess;Helping build the best worldAll freedoms unfurled,With the men who’ll accept nothing less

By John Heilig

Gene Smith presented a portion of this poem at the Mississippi Aviation Associations Annual Conference in Starkville, Mississippi on April 26,2016. Mr. Smith, a former POW (prisoner of war), shared his story of being a POW in Vietnam in the 60’s and early 70’s. The author of thispoem is commander (former Lt. Navy, F8 pilot) who was shot down on June 1966 and captured by Vietnamese soldiers. Mr. Smith lived with him18 months and in the same camp for three (3) years. Mr. Heilig wrote this poem when he and Mr. Smith were at Camp Faith, about 20 miles westof Hanoi in the fall of 1970 after seeing a picture of some peasants sitting below a speaker on a ladder listening to a radio program that was totallycontrolled by the North Vietnamese communist party leadership. The caption on the picture was “the children listen as they are told by about UncleHo’s death”. These radio speakers were in every city or village of North Vietnam at that time. The V in the poem refered to him as “uncle Ho”.

I was moved after hearing this story and reading this poem to share this with you. I asked Mr. Smith to send me a copy of the poem. The laststanza in this poem speaks to Christ’s mandate given in the Lord’s Prayer when Jesus said “Give us this day our daily bread.” We have a respon-sibility as Christians to do our best each day to use our blessings in a meaningful way leave the world better than when we found it. The Christstandard is the level that we should strive as the Apostle Paul described it. I press toward the mark of the high calling in Jesus Christ.

We are enhancing and creating partnerships to improve the delivery of youth ministry in the Metro Atlanta Area. Inthis new program, we would like to bring together the best and most hopeful young people across the Metro Atlan-ta region to provide meaningful opportunities to each of them. In this program, we would like to help assist youth leaders, teachers, men-tors, and other in providing programs such as the following:

1. College Tours
