Four day Weekend There will be no school Friday, October 9th and Monday October 12th. School will resume Tuesday, October 13th.

Closing the Achievement Gap NightAll Academy parents and students are invited to attend our Quarter 1 Closing the Achievement Gap Night of the year. Please join us Thursday, October 15 from 5:00-6:30 PM. Students and parents will have the opportunity to visit each learning environment, talk with teachers, see student work and pick up the report card.

IDEA McAllen Appreciation NightAfter you pick up your child’s report card on Thursday, October 15, join us at Chuck E. Cheese (3300 W. Expressway. 83, McAllen) from 5:00-9:00 PM for an appreciation night!You will have an opportunity to celebrate your child’s success! Students can bring in their report card and receive tokens for their hard work! (A and A&B Honor Roll=10 tokens, Perfect Attendance=10 tokens)IDEA McAllen will receive 15% of all proceeds earned this evening, so be sure to show them your flyer or to tell them you are with IDEA McAllen!

Kindergarten DIBELS TestingKindergarten Students will be taking DIBLES test Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14. It is very important that all kindergarten students are present and on time so that it does not affect their testing.

Wear Pink for a CauseWe will help to raise awareness and funds for the Breast Cancer Association by inviting all of our students and staff to wear a pink top and jeans and donate a dollar or more on Thursday, October 15.

Quarter 1 Behavior CelebrationThe first quarter Behavior Celebration will be on Thursday, October 15. Students in the 1st-5th gradewho maintained fifty or more points on their Tiger Tracker, and Kindergarten students with good behavior will be invited. If you are available to volunteer for this event and assist with student supervision (anytime between 8:00 AM-12:00 PM) please call the school to sign up. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Traffic RemindersPlease remember to be mindful of all drivers, parents and non-parents. There is no cutting in line, please wait

October 8, 2015in line to enter the school. U-turns are not allowed in front of the school, nor are they allowed in front of the neighborhood. U-turns this close to entrances heighten the risk of a wreck, and we don’t want this happening. Please drive down and complete a U-turn in the park, or complete a U-turn in a safer area away from the school’s entrance and neighborhood entrance. Safety is our priority here at IDEA McAllen, and we want all of our families entering and leaving the campus to do it in a safe manner.McAllen PD does patrol this area, and will issue citations if these are not followed.

Red Ribbon WeekIDEA McAllen will celebrate Red Ribbon Week and living a healthy, drug-free life on Monday, October 26 through Friday, October 30. Activities and daily themes are listed below.

Scholastic Book fairIDEA Academy McAllen will be hosting a scholastic book fair from Monday, October 19th until Friday, October 23rd.  Our book fair will be open from 8am to 4:30 pm in our HotSpot area. Don’t miss this great opportunity to buy your child’s favorite books at a great price.

Box Tops for EducationPlease continue to send in Box Tops for Education. Box Tops for Education is a great way to help IDEA McAllen earn money for our school and students.

Vestirse de Rosa por una Causa Octubre es el mes del cáncer de mama. Estamos creando conciencia y recaudando fondos para la Asociación contra el Cáncer de Mama, invitando a todos nuestros estudiantes y el personal a usar una blusa o playera rosa y jeans y donar un dólar o más el jueves 15 de octubre.

Celebración de Comportamiento del 1er TrimestreLa celebración de comportamiento del 1er trimestre será el jueves 15 de octubre. Los estudiantes de 1er -5to grado que tienen cincuenta o más puntos en su Tiger Tracker y estudiantes de Kindergarten con buen comportamiento están invitados. Si usted está disponible para ser voluntario para este evento y ayudar con la supervisión de los estudiantes (en cualquier momento entre las 8:00am - 12:00 pm) por favor llame a la escuela para inscribirse. Su ayuda es muy apreciada!

Vueltas en U no están permitidos en frente de la escuela, ni están permitidos en frente de colonias. La vuelta en U tan cerca de las entradas aumenta el riesgo de un accidente, y no

queremos que esto suceda. Por favor, haga su vuelta en U en el parque, o haga su vuelta en U en una zona más segura lejos de la entrada a la escuela y las colonias cerca de la escuela. La seguridad es nuestra prioridad aquí en IDEA McAllen, y queremos que todas nuestras familias que entran y salen del campus puedan hacerlo de una manera segura. McAllen PD patrulla esta área, y dará multas a personas que no sigan las reglas.

Semana del Listón Rojo IDEA McAllen celebrará la Semana del Listón Rojo y vivir una vida sana y libre de drogas empezando el lunes 26 de octubre hasta el viernes 30 de octubre. Las Actividades y los temas diarios se encuentras a continuación.

Feria del libro de Scholastic’s IDEA Academy McAllen será el anfitrión de una feria del libro escolar del miércoles 8 de octubre hasta el viernes 17 de octubre. Nuestra feria del libro estará abierta de 8 am a 4:30 pm en nuestra área de Hot Spot. No te pierdas esta gran oportunidad de comprar los libros favoritos de su hijo y un gran precio.
