A political nation is defined based on government or sharing of rulers.

Nations can be described as a democracy, anarchy, aristocracy, monarchy and oligarchy.

Economic

An economic region is based on the types of work people do.

A few examples could include agriculture, manufacturing, information technology.

Cultural

A cultural region is defined by the sharing of customs, beliefs, and religion.

Population

A population region is defined based on where people live.

The three types include rural, suburban and urban.
