NEWS AND EVENTS

COLLECTIONS FOR THE WEEK ENDING JANUARY 27 Communicating God’s Word Collection $2,651

Offertory $ 19,098 | Online $2,66 | Total $21,764

Attention Magnificat Subscribers: This year we will be replacing the Magnificat with Liturgical Press’s monthly magazine Give Us This Day, which is similar to the Magnificat with all the same liturgical readings, information about the saints, and morning and evening prayers. Fr. Stephen thinks you will enjoy reading it. It’s one of his favorite publications. Our Magnificat order ends with your February edition. If you would like to receive your monthly copy of Give Us This Day, please stop in the Parish Office and drop off your payment by February 1st for the March edition. In addition, another great plus is that a one-year subscription to Give Us This Day is only $20 rather than the $30 for Magnificat.

Seniors: The seniors will be meeting this Monday, February 4, at 12 noon in the Elizabeth Room. All Seniors are welcome!

2020 Mass Book: Will be opening on Monday, February 11, in the Parish Office 9-5pm. Please stop by and reserve your special Mass intentions.

Overnight Adoration: Monthly Overnight Adoration is every 2nd Friday of the month. The next Adoration will be on Friday, February 8th at 7:00pm and ending with Benediction prior to the 9:00 am Mass, Saturday, February 9. Adorers will be asked to commit to a specific hour. If you are interested, contact Pat Khanjian at 201-891-3262-ext 226, or [email protected].

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

I want to begin by saying, “Thank You!” to everyone. I want to thank in a special way to those who

stopped after Mass last weekend to give words of support and comfort and promise of continued prayer. Grow-

ing up in a Korean culture, I would say that I am not a hugger type, but I got to experience the healing power of a

hug last weekend. I think at one point, I had to stop myself from having tears roll down from my eyes from all

the hugs I received. Just thinking about it puts a smile on my face writing this letter to you.

I want to also say thank you to Fr. Stephen, Fr. Carlos, Fr. Vincent, and Deacon Andy for their words of

comfort and being there for me to talk to in my time of difficulty. Realizing that I am not alone, knowing that I am on a journey together

towards our Christian home with God allows me to take on this day with renewed hope and faith. Hope and faith not based on my own

merits or ability to accomplish great things, but just the simple fact that we are all trying both in times of joy and sorrow, and we know

that Jesus Christ our savior and redeemer is among us in our midst.

When we gather every week at Mass, I have the undeserved privilege to serve at the altar with all of you. Whenever I am up on

the altar looking out and seeing all the familiar faces, it always amazes me. To see smiling faces, frowning faces, faces of joy to stoic

faces helps me on my journey to the priesthood. It allows me to know that I did not start this journey toward priesthood for my own glory

or benefit, but with all of you to live out the life of witness following the example of Jesus on the way to Calvary. At one time or another,

in a beautiful way we all help each other carry our individual crosses.

I can only imagine the cross that each one of us are carrying this day. Please know that you are never alone. As much as the evil

one desires to separate us and divide us, know that we are never alone. Seek Jesus and his followers, who have gone before us to heaven

in prayer. If you feel like you are not being answered and feel alone, I encourage you to keep on with your prayer. Keep praying and

communicate your joys as well as frustrations to Jesus. When you continue to pray and still there is no sense of peace or consolation,

seek someone you trust. Whether a priest, deacon, or someone you know from St. Elizabeth. If you do not yet know someone from here,

I invite you to take this opportunity to come and get to know the priests and family of St. Elizabeth. Come and find me after Mass, and I

can share with you a healing hug in your time of loneliness, and know my prayers for the family of St. Elizabeth. Once again, thank

you.

Your hopeful servant in Christ,

Deacon Steve Chun
