TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — The Jews angrily reject Paul and Barnabas’ preaching. They then turn their energies to the Gentiles (Acts 13:14, 43‐52). Psalm — We are his people, the sheep of his flock (Psalm 100).
Second Reading — John envisions a great white‐robed multitude standing before the throne and before the Lamb. (Revelation 7:9, 14b‐17). Gospel — My sheep hear my voice; they follow me. I give them eternal life (John 10:27‐30).

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
It is not easy being Christian and Catholic in today’s world. Our society, because of the critical nature of the media in large part, tends to view people of faith and morals with some distrust. That is a challenge for us.
Paul and Barnabas experience something similar in today’s First Reading from the Acts of the Apostles. The people of Antioch in Pisidia “expel (them) from the territory.” No one likes or appreciates rejection. It is humiliating and discouraging. There may be times in our own lives when we follow firmly our Catholic beliefs and experience something similar. However, like Paul and Barnabas, we need to become even more determined in our desire to be a Disciple of the Lord.
In their case, they moved on to Iconium and continued their ministry and their message. In fact, Holy Scripture adds, “The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.” We, too, need to seek that joy and to understand that we have been blessed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Blessed Mother Teresa said, “Give yourself fully to God. He will use you to accomplish great things on the condition that you believe much more in His love than in your own weakness.” Like Paul and Barnabas, and Mother Teresa, we need to seek and utilize God’s strength.

REFLECIÓN DOMINICAL No es fácil ser cristiano y católico en el mundo actual.Nuestra sociedad, debido a la naturaleza crítica de los medios de comunicación, en gran parte, tiende a ver a las personas de fe y moral con un poco de desconfianza. Esto es un reto para nosotros.
Pablo y Bernabé experiencia algo similar en la primera lectura de hoy de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Los habitantes de Antioquía de Pisidia "expulsan (a) del territorio." A nadie le gusta o aprecia rechazo.Es humillante y desalentador. Puede haber momentos en nuestras vidas cuando seguimos firmemente nuestras creencias católicas y la experiencia algo similar. Sin embargo, al igual que Pablo y Bernabé, tenemos que ser aún más decidido en nuestro deseo de ser un discípulo del Señor.
En su caso, se trasladaron a Iconio y continuaron su ministerio y su mensaje. De hecho, la Santa Escritura añade: "Los discípulos se llenaron de alegría y del Espíritu Santo." Nosotros, también, tenemos que buscar que la alegría y entender que hemos sido bendecidos y el poder del Espíritu Santo. Madre Teresa dijo, "entrégate totalmente a Dios. Él te usará para lograr grandes cosas con la condición de que usted cree mucho más en su amor que en su propia debilidad. "Al igual que Pablo y Bernabé, y la Madre Teresa, tenemos que buscar y utilizar la fuerza de Dios.

EL REBAÑO DEL PASTOR En el arte cristiano, las primeras imágenes de Jesucristo no fueron de su crucifixión ni de su resurrección. Fueron de Jesús como el Buen Pastor, tal como nos lo presentan las lecturas de hoy. En el pasaje evangélico Jesús se nos revela como el pastor y sus seguidores son su “rebaño”.
La primera y la segunda lecturas nos cuentan un poco más sobre el rebaño. El pasaje de los Hechos nos asegura que tanto los judíos como los gentiles están llamados a seguir a Jesús. Es la fe, no el derecho de cuna, lo que nos permite pertenecer a la comunidad de creyentes. En el pasaje del libro del Apocalipsis, aprendemos que el rebaño que le sigue a este Cordero de Dios será también purificado en su sangre. Tendrán que sobrellevar un tiempo de prueba antes de gozar de la vida eterna. Estén seguros de la promesa, nos avisa, pero sepan que hay un precio que pagar.

Women’s Retreat

Mission Circle needs gently used clothes for the Casa Eudes Fashion Show in May. Here’s your chance to clean out your closets and help the girls’ home in Tijuana at the same time. Just donate your used clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry, and other accessories. After the show the clothes will go to the thrift shop that helps support the home. We’re collecting everything from little girls’ clothes to teen‐age and adult styles. Please put your donations in the collection box in the back of the church and label them “Fashion Show”. St. James—St. Leo Catholic Community is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers, or Congregation of Jesus and Mary. We owe our name to Saint John Eudes who founded the Congregation in France in 1643. The Eudists currently operate in 15 countries, most of which are in the developing world. Evangelization, mainly with the poor and the youth, is our primary purpose, as well as formation to ministry in the

St. James parish is approaching an exciting time of renovation and expansion. In order to prepare for this upcoming growth, everyone is invited to participate in a Planning Study to determine the overall level of support for the proposed projects. It is crucial that all who call St. James their spiritual home take part in this endeavor. Get involved and let your voice be heard as we move forward as a parish. Your opinion will assist in formulating the best plan of action.
All parishioners should have received the proposed project information and a survey in the mail. If you did not receive the information, extra surveys will be provided in the pew pockets at today’s Mass. We are asking all parishioners to return their completed survey today before leaving Mass. You can return your survey in the offertory, or place it in the survey basket as you exit the church building.

Mother’s Day Cards & Novena St. James ‐ St. Leo Catholic Community will have a
Novena of Masses offered for Mother’s Day.
If you would like to have your mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister or any other special woman in your life remembered in a Novena of Masses please pick up the special Mother’s Day Remembrance card and return the envelope to the parish office. The Novena of Masses for these Mother’s Day Remembrance’s will occur between May 8 and May 17th. These cards are available in the vestibule of the church. Please return the envelope no later than Monday, May 2nd.
