FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

Stewardship, A Way of Life “Tithing—God’s Plan for Giving”

Biblically a tithe means 10%. All are asked to consider tithing and return 10% of our income to the Lord (5% to the parish, 5% to your favorite charity). The spiritual practice of tithing disposes us to make God first in every area of our lives! The aim is to secure not the tithe, but the tither, not the gift, but the giver for God! May 12, 2019 In Pew Collection $11,605.00 (From 335 Households) Loose Cash $ 1,220.00 Online Giving $ 3,137.15 (From 28 Households)

Total Collection $15,962.15 May 13, 2018 $21,062.00

Currently, we have 1803 household

It is easy to love someone when they love you back. But it takes strength and courage to love someone when we feel unappreciated, used or feel our opinion doesn’t matter. It takes courage to “love my neighbor” when he may be someone I don’t like, someone I don’t know or someone that doesn’t look like me.

DIOCESAN ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Thank you to all who have contributed to the Diocesan Annual Campaign so far. Of the 1803 families in the parish, 486 families have responded.

Parish Goal (Assessment): $182,200.00 Total pledged to Date $121,543.00 Amount needed to reach Goal: $ 60,657.00

As you can see we are a long way from reaching our goal. For a number of reasons the amount pledged is never collected in full. Deaths, unexpected moves, changes in employment situations, and other reasons result in a lesser amount being collected than is pledged. So every contribution counts and will help reach the goal. Thanks to those who have made a contribution. Thanks to those who will.

Reminder: If you indicated a pledge by Credit Card, please complete the process to update our totals. The Diocese will notify us of your pledge. To pledge by Credit Card, please visit www.hbgdiocese.org/DAC or call 657-4804, ext. 336. May God bless you for your generosity to the Diocesan Annual Campaign and to the Parish.

To the People of Good Shepherd Parish

It is with great pleasure that I announce to you our new Principal — Michael C. Pietropola. Mike comes to us from the Wellsboro School District where he is currently Curriculum Director. Prior to his present position he was a middle school Principal and an Assistant Principal in middle school and at the high school level. Mike is a parishioner of Saint Peter’s Parish in Wellsboro where he is active in the practice of his faith and was highly recommended by his pastor.

I met with him before the Search Committee had their second interview with him Thursday evening. I was impressed during my interview. He presented to the Search committee his “One Year Plan” which was very well received by the Search Committee. I was able to get Father Sullivan’s perspective who was in attendance at the second interview and he too was very impressed with Michael’s resume, experience and presentation skills.

We will be coordinating with Michael to have him introduced to the school community between today and the end of the school year.

Michael will be a great addition to our school community and help Father Sullivan and our faculty to enhance our educational program.

Have a Blessed week.

Fr. PHIL
