Programa de Aprendizaje Temprano (ELRsiglas en inglés) para padres y cuidadores hispanos y sus niños de 0 a 5 años de edad: enasociación con otras cuatro YMCA y suscentros de acogida, este programa ofreceactividades de aprendizaje divertidas paralos niños y sus padres o cuidadores. Teen Scene - Before and After School grades 6-8: We arehere during the one of the most pivotal times in the day:after the bell rings. Our energetic staff is fun, engaged andhere to support your teen. Teen Strength Orientation ages 12-17: Learning properweight-room form and etiquette is a skill that lasts a lifetime, so we offer an orientation class aimed at our newyouth users. Orientations must be scheduled, visit MemberServices to schedule yours today! Facility Member Privilege

Leaders Club grades 9-12: & Jr. Leaders Club grades 6-8:Teens: Here you will find entertainment, events, and achance to give back to your community. Teen Club membersmeet weekly at the Robert D. Fowler Y to have meaningfuldiscussions on current issues, build teamwork skills, planupcoming service projects and events and just have a greattime! Teen Club is also a gateway into gaining the necessaryjob skills to work in our Summer Camp Program and YouthSports Program.

Parents: Your teen will interact with other teens from ourcommunity. They will share experiences and have facilitateddiscussions designed to teach life lessons and build charac-ter. Your teen will gain knowledge of what their communityis and how they can make a difference in it. Teen Club willhelp to inspire the leader within and create an atmospherewhere they build relationships and share commonalities.

YOUTH SPORTS

Every child can participate in any of our youth sports options. Our program aims at building self-confidence, introduction to team work allwhile teaching the fundamentals and basic skills of the sport. Youth willalso make friends and have fun! FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football ages 5-12: FlagFootball is back for the fall! Allgames and practices this seasonwill be held at Dean Field.Practice weekly and games onSaturdays!

VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball coed ages 9-12: Originally started by the YMCA, volleyball is a fun team sport that develops character andteamwork. Youth Volleyball is offered for boys, girls, and co-ed leagues. It is designed to build teamwork, intermedi-ate skills, basic fundamentals and love of the sport. Thereare no try-outs. Weekly practice and games on Saturday.

Soo Bahk Do Karate all ages: Y Karate isfor all ages and abilities. Through a wellproven method of training, students and families exhibit improvements in courage,concentration, discipline, respect, humility andself-defense. We offer monthly, 45-minute sessions that are 4 weeks long.

Swim Lessons Year Round

PARENT AND TOT ages 6-35 months with a parent:

Shrimp/Kipper parent/child ages 6-15 months: Water adjustments and songs for infants and toddlers, water safety and how-to’s for parents. A parent or guardian mustbe with the child in the water during the class.

Parent Pike parent/child ages 12-35 months: Parents andInstructors work together in the water to help childrendevelop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water, and developindependent movement in the water. This class is designedfor new swimmers, teaching basic paddle stroke, kickingskills, and pool safely.

PRESCHOOL CLASSES ages 3-5 • 30-minute classes

Pike (beginner): Prerequisite: Child should be able to go inthe water without supervision of a parent. Goals: Gain self-confidence; swim away from the wall turn and grab the wallwith a float belt; front and back float with assistance; bobunderwater; paddle on front, back and side with a float belt.

Eel (intermediate): Prerequisite: Child should be able to goin the water without supervision of a parent. Goals: Gainself-confidence; swim away from the wall turn and grab thewall with a float belt; front and back float with assistance;bob underwater; paddle on front, back and side with a floatbelt.

Ray/Starfish (advanced): Prerequisite: Completion of EelClass or consent of Aquatic Coordinator. Must be able toswim 25 yards without assistance. Goals: Alternating paddleand symmetrical strokes on front, back and side with rudimentary rhythmic breathing; front and back somersaultwithout assistance; tread water for one minute.

YOUTH ages 6-12 • 45-minute classes Polliwog (beginner): Students will learn front paddle stroke,breaststroke and elementary backstroke.

Guppy (intermediate beginner): Prerequisite: Completionof Polliwog and/or Ray and or Starfish class or consent ofAquatic Coordinator. Students learn to integrate front crawl(freestyle), breaststroke, and backstroke. Students can swimindependently by the end.

YOUTH ages 6-13 • 45-minute classes

Minnow (intermediate): Prerequisite:Completion of Guppy or consent ofAquatic Coordinator. Learn sidestroke,personal safety and rescue skills.Students are able to swim any basicstroke for 25 meters by the end.

Fish/Flying Fish (advanced): Focus onthe competitive strokes. Must be able todo 50 yards butterfly, backstroke,breaststroke, and front crawl (freestyle)with turns.

Adaptive Swim: SNAP is a group lessonbuilt to fit the needs of your swimmer.This program is a great option for youthwith Asperger's, Autism, sensory integration issues, hearing or visualimpairments, or individual needs. Parentshould come prepared to swim with theirchild the first day.

TEEN ADULT ages 13+

Teen/Adult: YMCA swim lessons foradults can help meet the needs of thebeginner or those who want to improve.

TRX TRAINING

TRX is a training program in a small group setting that usesyour own body weight through suspension training to buildstrength, balance, coordination, flexibility, joint stability andcore strength. Our TRX classes offer a challenge for beginners to advanced. TRX classes are offered in 4 weeksessions, a new session begins at the start of each month.

DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps you takecontrol of your health by adopting habits to reduce yourchances of developing type 2 diabetes and improve youroverall health and well-being. Research by the NationalInstitutes of Health has proven that programs like theYMCA’s Diabetes Prevention program can reduce the numberof cases of type 2 diabetes by nearly 60%. In order to qualify for this program participants must be as least 18years old, overweight (BMI ≥ 25) and at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes or have been diagnosed withprediabetes.
