Larry Drew became the second-fastest coach in Hawks history to 100 victories with his team’s 92-75 win over Chicago on Dec. 22. He was named the conference’s December Coach of the Month. Forward Josh Smith continues his All-Star calibar season averaging 16.9 points and 8.3 rebounds a game, while Al Horford is adding 15.8 points and 9.6 rebounds a contest.

The Charlotte Bobcats struggled in the win-loss column during December but continue to get better on the court. Guard Ramon Sessions has proven to be one of the best sixth men in the NBA averaging 14.4 points a game coming off the bench. Rookie forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist continues to impress, starting 31 of 32 games for the Bobcats so far.

The Memphis Grizzlies are showing they will be a team to fear come playoff time after an impressive December. (L-R) Hawks LIVE! host Jerome Jurenovich, Brittany, Canicka and analyst Mike “Stinger” Glen at Philips Arena.

Canicka and Brittany make an appearance at Kilwins in Atlantic Station to support the Atlanta Hawks Blood Drive.

Bob RathbunAtlanta Hawks Play-by-Play

Hawks Most Exciting Game So Far:Nov. 24 Hawks win over the LA Clippers at Philips! Jeff Teague got the better of Chris Paul in a Wake Forest point guard battle that night. It will prove to be one of the better Hawk wins of the season.

Hawks Player Who Should Represent As All-Star:You couldn’t go wrong with either Al Horford or Josh Smith. Both

have played at an All-Star level so far.

Hawks Biggest Need Going Forward: Size! The Hawks could really use some rebounding help against

some of the better—and taller—NBA front lines.

My Favorite Arena: I have several favorites, but Chicago’s United Center is special.

Every night is a sellout, and there is great energy from one of the world’s best sports cities.

Steve MartinCharlotte Bobcats Play-by-Play

Pete PranicaMemphis Grizzlies Play-by-Play

Bobcats Most Exciting Game So Far:The Minnesota game on November 14th, when Kemba Walker

hit a fadeaway with .02 seconds left. Bobcats win 89-87.

Bobcats Newcomer With Biggest Impact:You could argue between Ramon Sessions and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, but you would probably come down on the side of

Sessions who provides the Bobcats with points in the paint on most nights, while being only 6-3.

Bobcats Biggest Need Going Forward: The Bobcats need an automatic low post scorer who can also

rebound and demand a double team, which loosens things up for the Bobcats talented perimeter players.

Grizzlies Most Exciting Game So Far:Easily, it was the Miami game. No one expected such a 3-pt

shooting display. The block by Jerryd Bayless that led to a 3-pt make by Wayne Ellington was an amazing sequence.

Grizzlies Biggest Need Going Forward: You can never have too much perimeter shooting. The Grizzlies have improved that aspect, but the 3-pt shot has become such a weapon in the NBA that perimeter shooting is always valued.

Grizzlies Player Who Should Represent As All-Star:It’s very hard to pick one because Marc Gasol is having a career year and Zach Randolph is the hardest player for opponents to handle. That said, among his peers at the center position, Marc is

as good as any in either conference. The deck is much more stacked at the power forward position.
