Summer Playgrounds Program

Free!The Summer Playgrounds Program offers fun activities such as sports, arts and crafts, reading time, field trips and special events. Children will have the opportunity to go on field trips

(fee required) one to two times per week. Field trips will include park district water parks, Blackberry Farm, movies, arcades and others. A complete list and schedule will be available at the playground site the first time a child attends. This is a seven-week program scheduled at four locations. All locations will be closed during field trips. Registration will be taken by Fox Valley Park District playground staff starting the first day of the program at each playground. Registration is ongoing at the playgrounds sites only through the duration of the program. A waiver form and registration card needs to be completed before a child can participate in the program. Sign-up will not take place before the program begins. Times and locations are tentative. The cost of the program is free (except for the optional field trips). Children must be entering Grades 1 to 5 in the fall of 2012 to participate. Verification of child’s grade level and proof of residency may be required. Space is limited at each park so be sure to arrive on time. Program is held outdoors and may cancel due to weather conditions. (SC)

Neighborhood ArtFree!

These camps will expose children to a variety of art mediums in their own back yards. Children will have many opportunities to draw, paint, craft and create. This program is free. A waiver form

needs to be completed before a child can participate in the program. Waivers will only be available at neighborhood art sites starting the first day of the program. Children may be signed up anytime during the days of the program. Children must be entering Grades 1 to 5 in the fall to participate. (DS)

The Ultimate Destination Camps are hands-on, week-long programs led by experienced camp professionals. Each week will be held at a different park facility. Week 1: Become a member of Red Oak’s CSI (Critter Scene Investigation) crew. Week 2: Travel back in time and experience life as a pioneer at Blackberry Farm. Week 3: Enjoy a week packed with a variety of sports taught by experienced coaches at the Vaughan Athletic Center. Week 4: Get wet and have fun at Splash Country. Week 5: Enjoy a variety of activities from crafts to sports at the Eola Community Center. Week 6: Exercise body and mind with a variety of fitness activities designed to get kids moving and adopt a healthy lifestyle at the Vaughan Center. Week 7: Discover the world of performing arts at the Prisco Community Center. There is a $250 security deposit due upon registration for the seven-week package. The balance is due by June 4.

Kids Can Cook CampUnder the direction of Chef Sandi, campers will cook, bake, decorate and eat their delicious food in a supervised setting. The emphasis will be on Oriental cooking. The young chefs will be exposed to all the joys of preparing food for themselves and their families. All supplies are provided including beverages with lunch. Swimtastic Summer CampSwimtastic Summer Camp is a half-day camp that focuses on building both swimming skills and overall confidence in the water. Campers will be divided according to swim skills for a portion of the camp to

work on swim strokes and drills. Campers also will work together as a team to learn basic emergency response skills through a Junior Lifeguarding program that includes water rescues and CPR. Parker’s Exploration CampThis camp, named after the Fox Valley Park District mascot, offers weekly themes that include a field trip and/or event related to the theme. Each theme includes activities appropriate

to each age group. Campers will be grouped by age in the following categories: 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. Field trips include swim trips, nature centers, zoo and more. Campers will take a bike trip every Thursday, weather permitting, and must provide their own bike. The camp fee includes all events and field trips. No camp on July 4. (SC)

Summer Volunteen Camp

This camp is designed for teens to learn to build leadership skills and community awareness as well as develop a lifetime commitment to service through volunteer opportunities within the park district. The benefits of

this camp include making social contacts, building confidence and self-esteem, meeting new friends, keeping active and having fun. Some of the activities will include team-building activities, community speakers, hand-on experiences and sharing their time and talent with the community. (DS)

Just for Teens

Counselor in TrainingTeens ages 14 and 15 can get real-life, hands-on camp counselor experience through the park district’s Counselor in Training program. Teens will assist in day-to-day camp counselor duties and activities and will learn leadership skills, teamwork, problem-solving skills, responsibility, safety and patience. Teens must interview with a park district supervisor in order to be chosen for this program. Tiny-Hawks Basketball & SoccerThe essentials of basketball and soccer are introduced in a fun and safe environment with lots of encouragement. Campers must be between 42 and 48 months of age and toilet trained in order to participate.

Trained staff will teach children balance, body movement, hand/eye coordination and skill development through a series of sport-specific games tailored to their attention spans. This program is taught by Skyhawks Sports. (RM)

Our programs are available to all people of all ability levels. Anyone needing special accommodations should fill in the information on the registration form.

1. By Foxlink Internet and Touchtone

Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week (see Registration Calendar for resident and non-resident registration start date).

Those who have Foxlink IDs for family members and a Family PIN number may register by telephone or Internet any time of day. Have a Visa, MasterCard or Discover card ready. To sign up for Foxlink, an adult member of the household must complete a Family Information Form and return it to the Park District along with proof of address (driver’s license, state ID or tax bill) either by dropping it off at a community center or faxing it to 630-897-6896. The Family Information Form is available on the website at foxvalleyparkdistrict.org or at any community center. After processing the Family Information Form, the Park District will mail a letter with a Family PIN number and Foxlink IDs for each person in the household to the main contact. The Family PIN number and Foxlink IDs are required to register on both Foxlink Internet and touchtone. For more information, visit our website at foxvalleyparkdistrict.org.

Registration CalendarRESIDENT Registration - Saturday, May 5, at 8:30 a.m.REGISTRATION BEGINS! Mail-in, walk-in, Foxlink Internet and Foxlink Touchtone registration accepted for residents only on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment must accompany each registration. Payments for those placed on a waiting list will remain on account or be refunded in full upon request.

NON-RESIDENT Registration - Monday, May 14Non-resident registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 14. Resident registration will continue throughout the season.

Check PolicyClasses are paid for in full at time of registration unless otherwise noted. Checks should be made out to the Fox Valley Park District. A $25 service fee is charged for returned checks. Payment is required within seven days; otherwise, participants will be removed from the class.

Refund Policy• 100% refund (less $5 service charge) if received at least

three working days prior to start of program.• 50% refund if received prior to second course meeting.•No refund after second course meeting.• 100% refund if class is closed or canceled.

Non-Resident FeesA person residing outside the Park District boundaries of Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery must pay a non-resident fee according to the following policy:•Class fees are generally 50 percent higher than the resident

fee listed.•Note: Those living in Sugar Grove pay the resident rate

but may not register until non-resident registration begins.

General Information•All registrations are accepted on a space-available basis. • Programs that do not meet the minimum enrollment will

be canceled or postponed.•Children must meet the age requirement for all preschool

and youth-related programs by the designated start date of the desired program.

• Some programs may require special registration forms on specified dates as noted in the Park District Activity Guide.

•All registrants and participants permit the taking of photographs and video of themselves and their children during Park District activities for publication and use as the Park District deems appropriate.
