Utility CommunicationsSYN4E for FOX 515/512SDH STM-1/STM-4 aggregate interface
Todays applications in substation environment ask more
and more for extended bandwidth of the communication
channels. Especially Ethernet over SDH (EoS) services are
consuming significant bandwidth of SDH networks. The
SYN4E module provides enhanced traffic capacity with its
4 x SFP cages for STM-1/4 SFPs. This allows to build up
broadband WAN networks to tackle the increased traffic
requirements. Ethernet ports and EoS mappers are direct-
ly integrated in this module.
The flex ible design of SYN4E al lows to setup f irst a STM-1
backbone network by ensuring future upgradability to STM-4once the traffic requirements exceed the available bandwidth
Beside this SYN4E supports various different redundancy
schemes which are well known from the FOX515 system and
ensure highest availability of your optical network.
SYN4E at a glance
− 2 x SFP cage STM-1/4
− 2 x SFP cage STM-1
− 4 x 10/100/1000 BaseT ports
− On board high order and low order cross connect
− MSP & SNCP protection scheme
− EoS mapper on board
− VCAT & LCAS support
− Synchronos Equipment Timing Service (SETS)
− Redundant configuration supported for SETS
SYN4E architecture
The SYN4E is part of the large number of modules which
can be plugged into a FOX515 slot. Like all FOX515 modules
SYN4E is
− powered from the FOX515 shelf
−
configured by USCT − supervised by the FOXMAN management system
The SYN4E module can provide up to four ports using the
SFP cages on the front. This allows to adapt to the actual
project requirements. The Ethernet ports are compatible with
NEBRx modules.
