As I was preparing this bulletin article, I actually took time to have a colloquy with the Holy Family. I talked about you, or rather, I prayed for each of you. St. Joseph, Blessed Mother, and Jesus wants to hear from you too. Find a quiet place at home, in the Church, or in the Adoration Chapel and try doing this for twenty to thirty minutes: Imagine yourself kneeling at Jesusmanger in the cave in Bethlehem not long after His birth. Notice that Blessed Mother is kneeling right next to you on your right, and that St. Joseph is kneeling right next to you on your left. Spend about five minutes being here. Now take your head and lay it on Blessed Mothers left shoulder. Now talk to her. Allow some time to listen to her too. Spend about five minutes doing this. Now take your head and lay it on St. Josephs right shoulder. Now talk to him. Allow some time to listen to him too. Spend about five minutes doing this. Notice that St. Joseph stands up and he brings a simple, yet comfortable, wooden chair to you and he places it next to the crib. He gently places his hand on your shoulder and invites you to take a seat. Blessed Mother stands up and gently picks up the Divine Child Jesus from the crib. Your heart starts to race and bit and she smiles at you. She invites you to open up your arms. She places the Child Jesus into your arms. You feel peace and joy and warmth. You feel just how much He loves you! Now talk to Him. Allow some time to listen to Him too. Spend about five to ten minutes doing this. Enjoy! You are a member of this Holy Family! And Merry Christmas! God Bless You, Fr. John Kopson

Fr. John’s Message

Spending Time With Your Holy Family at Christmas

Ever since I was a child, my family has had a devotion to the Holy Family. This devotion stemmed from my mom’s love for the Holy Family. Every year, when Christmas and the Feast of the Holy Family came around, my mother was always so filled with joy. Joy is such a gift! It is a gift that Jesus is always so very happy to give us. We can always find joy in the Holy Family! The word “colloquy” is a fancy word for “conversation”. Colloquy is also a form of prayer. St. Ignatius of Loyola believed that prayerful conversations with Jesus and Mary were absolutely vital! Did you know that your Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, wants to converse with you? Do you believe that St. Joseph desires to hear from you? Do you understand that Jesus wants to spend time with you in prayerful conversation? As I was preparing this bulletin article, I actually took time to have a colloquy with the Holy Family. I talked about you, or rather, I prayed for each of you. St. Joseph, Blessed Mother, and Jesus wants to hear from you too. Find a quiet place at home, in the Church, or in the Adoration Chapel and try doing this for twenty to thirty minutes: Imagine yourself kneeling at Jesus’ manger in the cave in Bethlehem not long after His birth. Notice that Blessed Mother is kneeling right next to you on your right, and that St. Joseph is kneeling right next to you on your left. Spend about five minutes being here. Now take your head and lay it on Blessed Mother’s left shoulder. Now talk to her. Allow some time to listen to her too. Spend about five minutes doing this. Now take your head and lay it on St. Joseph’s right shoulder. Traditional St. Michael Prayer

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who roam about the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. (By Pope Leo X111)
