This year’s theme, “ Be Not Afraid,” “Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20. We ask that you please join us from 2-3pm along US 1 for the LIFE CHAIN. The designated area for Blessed Trinity is between Madruga Ct. and Santona St.(A map is available on the information tables outside Church)

Every human person is created in the image and like-ness of God. The conviction that human life is sacred and that each person has inherent dignity that must be respected in society lies at the heart of Catholic social teaching. Calls to advance human rights are illusions if the right to life itself is subject to attack. We believe that every human life is sacred from conception to natural death; that people are more important than things; and that the measure of every institution is whether or not it enhances the life and dignity of the human person. (US Bishops: Faithful Citizenship - Civic Responsibility for a New Millennium, 1999).

2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to 3 shepherd children in Fatima. In honor of this important centennial, Pope Francis declared this a Jubilee Year, and has granted the opportunity for the Catholic faithful to obtain a plenary indulgence under the normal con-ditions (detachment from sin, confession, commun-ion, and prayers for the intentions of the Holy Father) and meeting the following condition: Make a visit to an image or statue of Our Lady of Fatima that is on display for public venera-tion in any Church or Oratory on the anniversary day of the apparition—October 13, and “devotedly participate: in prayer or cele-bration in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, pray the “Our Father” and the “Creed” and invoke Our Lady of Fatima.

You can gain a Plenary Indugence on October 13th?

Historic Event 1st US Born Priest was declared a Martyr last weekend.

Father Stanley Rother, the Oklahoma born martyr who served as a priest in Guatemala, was beatified in Oklahoma City on Sept. 23, 2017. In December 2016, Pope Francis officially acknowledged Fr. Rother’s martyr-dom, making him the first recognized martyr to have been born in the United

States. Fr. Rother was from an unassuming town in Okarche, OK, where he went to the same school his whole life and lived with his family until he left for seminary. Stanley felt God calling him to the priesthood from a young age. He graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Maryland, and a few years after being ordained, he accepted an invitation to join the mission team that was established in Santiago Atitlan in Gua-temala, where he spent the next 13 years of his life. At the village they took to calling him Padre Francisco after his baptismal name of Francis. He was know for his kindness, selflessness, joy and attentive presence among his parishioners. Over the years, the violence of the Guatemalan civil war inched closer to the once peaceful village. Disap-pearances, killings and danger soon became part of daily life, but Fr. Stanley remained steadfast and sup-portive of his people. In 1980-1981, the violence escalated, and Fr was constantly seeing friends and parish-ioners being abducted or killed. He knew they were in danger, but he was not ready to leave his people just yet. Fr. Stanley could not abandon his people, and ultimately was killed for living out his Catholic faith. Maria Scaperlanda, who has worked on Fr. Stanley’s cause for canonization, said the priest is a great witness and example: “He fed the hungry, sheltered the homeless, visited the sick, comforted the afflicated, bore wrongs patiently, buried the dead—all of it.”

Pray for Vocations If you would like to sign up for the vocation cup please contact the parish office at 305-871-5780 or contact the coordinators for your Sunday Mass. We welcome Fr. Elvis Gonzalez who will be preaching over the weekend masses. Fr. Elvis González was born in Nicaragua. He came to Miami at the age of 15 and graduated from Miami Coral Park Senior High School in 2004 and entered St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami. He completed his studies for the priesthood at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Miami on May 11, 2013. He served as a parochial vicar at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Kendall until June 2015, when he was appointed archdiocesan Vocations Director.

“Share the journey”

Pope Francis launched a global campaign in support of immigrant and refugees on September 27, 2017.

The campaign reflects the Church’s commitment to all of God’s children , especially the most vulnerable. The Holy Father’s launch is the official start to the Share the Journey global migration campaign, sponsored internationally by Caritas Internationalis and in the U.S. by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)/Migration and Refugee Services, Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
