The Lord calls us to come back to Him 'with all our hearts, fasting and weeping and mourning'. This is the time when we turn to Him, our God, full of tenderness and compassion. We know that He will come to our help in a 'favourable time' as He promised to those who revere Him. But we must be careful not to parade our good deeds in front of others: giving alms, praying and fasting needs to be done in secret because our Father sees all that is done in secret. Deeds which are done publicly are rewarded by people, but deeds done in secret, by God Himself.

Come Follow Me Discernment Group – Fr Mark Hogan, our diocesan vocations promoter will be hosting a gathering for our diocesan dis-cernment group. This group is aimed at young men and women aged 16-30, who are looking to deepen their relationship with Christ and who are asking themselves how best to serve God in the future. For some this might mean marriage and for others the priesthood or reli-gious life. The gathering will take place on Friday 9th March at St. Joseph’s Church, St Michael’s Rd, Basingstoke RG22 6TY. It will begin with mass at 7:30pm and be followed by a meal in the presbytery and an informal presentation on discerning our vocation, finishing at 9:30pm. It would be useful to have an idea of numbers for catering purposes (please let us know of any dietary requirements) but also on this occasion we would like to know specifically who
would be attending, so if you are able to come, please email [email protected] you are over the age of 30 and would like support in dis-cerning your vocation, please contact Fr Mark.
Lord Jesus, continue to let resound today Your sweet invitation: “Come and Follow Me.” Grant to young men and women the grace of responding promptly to Your voice. Give perseverance to our seminarians. Send, Lord, workers into Your fields and do not let mankind be lost because of a lack of pastors. Mary, Mother of the Church, Model of Vocations, help us say “Yes” to the Lord Who calls us to collaborate in the divine design of salvation. Amen.
