TIME

The MiXto SX® utilizes a proprietary algorithm producing a unique “Z” scan pattern which provides the longest amount of time possible between adjacent spots while filling in a given square area of skin.

This patent pending pattern allows maximum intra-operative cooling of surrounding tissue lowering risk of side effects while maximizing patient comfort.

The MiXto SX® using chopped CW deposit more heat into tissue than competing technology yet allow practitioners to safely treat all skin types I – VI.

SP/UP CW

When using similar parameters the chopped CW CO2 laser pulse will produce slightly less ablation than short pulse CO2 (superpulse and UltraPulse) but more residual thermal damage (RTD) with an added thin layer of coag. It’s this thin layer of highly coagulated tissue that produces a dryer procedure.

1. Dryer procedure:• Lower risk of infection• Improved visual field• Seal off nerve endings to reduce post-op pain• Increased coagulation of small lymphatic vessels

reducing post-op edema• Less patient anxiety after treatment• Simplified post-care

2. Improved cosmetic result / short term & long term:• More collagen production• Greater skin tightening• Higher scar reduction

“Tissue shrinkage from dehydration and contracted denatured collagen is only present for a short period (14 days) after laser resurfacing, but continued improvement in skin texture and contour has been observed clinically up to 1 year after treatment. New collagen deposition and remodeling in the dermis appear to be responsible for such improvement, the extent of which is dependent on the extent of residual thermal damage produced by the laser beam”.1

1. Cutaneous laser resurfacing: Désirée Ratner, MD, Yardy Tse, MD, Nancy Marchell, MD, Mitchel P. Goldman, MD, Richard E. Fitzpatrick, MD, and Darrell J. Fader, MD (J Am Acad Dermatol 1999;41:365-89. page 371)

“Probably because of the greater degree of residual thermal damage associated with the continuous wave system, at 2 years after treatment there was more prolific synthesis and better orientation of collagen fibers, which were maintained for longer times, compared with the pulsed-treated specimens”.2

2. Pulsed and Scanned Carbon Dioxide Laser Resurfacing 2 Years after Treatment: Comparison by Means of Scanning Electron Microscopy Mario A. Trelles, M.D., Ph.D., Luisa Garcia, M.D., Josepa Rigau, M.D., Inès Allones, M.D., and Marı`ano Velez, M.D., Pharm. (Plast. Reconstr. Surg. 111:2069, 2003)

Power Pulse Width

More pronounced increase in ablation depth.

More pronounced increase in thermal damage.

The MiXto SX® allows the laser operator to independently adjust both the power (watts) and pulse width (ms).

This gives the user the ability to individually select the depth of ablation or degree of thermal damage (or combination) to treat the widest range of skin conditions.
