Blank Verse- there is really no rhythm to the poem it has really no flow and Just goes on not following a certain thing. It just says about a cowboy going Up and the 8 second ride and winning.

Pole Vaulting, thoughts of a jumping mental idiot

Thousand of thoughts, standing there finding a gripDon’t slow down, Plant high, Touch your feet to the sky!Everything that was said over and over and over againDo everything right, nothing wrongDon’t mess up!Start the mad dash towards the pitNow only the exact second is being thoughtDon’t slow down!Move faster, keeping eyes on the boxDon’t slow down! It’s time to plant, a quick fast sweep into the boxPlant high!Look up to the clouds, hang upside down and with legs tucked inTouch my feet to the sky!Kick up and turnover gets above the barOne last thing that doesn’t need much thoughtPush the pole awayLand in the pit, look up at the barMade it! The bar still thereThe thoughts are all gone it’s time to do it again.

My Little Scrapper Thinking back through all the years

How swiftly they’ve passed byI close my eyes and bite my lipTry so hard not to cryYou were always such a scrapperA raging thunderstormThe day you shed your diaperYou donned a uniform.

Fear – never a factorWith the toughest, there you stoodYou have the will, the soul, the heart...But, I always knew you would I watch you while you’re sleepingSo still, so calm, sereneOnce you step uponThat football fieldYou’re one powerful machine.

I marvel at your talentsYou’re intense and dedicatedSo keen, devoted, daringJust as I anticipatedYour qualities are endless You’re faithful, kind and trueRighteous and respectedA leader, Josh, that’s you!

Watching you play any sportHas always been a pleasureYou’re masterful and focusedMy pride - I can not measureAnd now my little scrapperYou’ve become a strapping manSo stay steadfast … follow the sunAnd be the best you can!

ONE LOOKAs I stand on that muddy grass field,The roar of the cheering crowdsIs all I seem to hear.No specific voices, its all just a blurThe only person I really notice,Is the yelling of my coach.

As I go to challenge the ball,I think, “I want my coach to be proud of me”,The ball is at me feet, I have to be quick.I dribble up the side of the field,Cut in and cross, one touch,From another player, and Goal!I know my coach is proud of me,From just one look.

Walking to the car,Ball in hand, covered all in mud,I receive compliments on a great game,

I say thanks but all that matters,After the game winning goal.Is that one look from my coach. By: Ashley

THE BIKERS ROAD Raise the door or just take off the cover, there she sits just waiting for us to hover.   Our first glance we know she waits, just as our mind anticipates.   As we sit on the seat, a turn of the key, we know for sure this is the way it should be.   Pull out the drive and head down the street, whether we are alone or heading to a meet.   The direction that we take as the wind hits our face, remember it's about the joy, not about winning a race.   The curves, the hairpins, or just the straights, with every lean, there's just something about the path we take.   It's the feeling we get as we straddle of course, a passion and a love upon that steel horse.   So as we roll along and feel the ground, with every throttle twist taking in the sound.   Be aware of the others as your mind clears the load, hoping they remember this too is "The Bikers Road BY: DAREN L. End rhyme- the words at the end of each line go together and rhyme and Through the and the end the all rhyme.

Page 16: Frankie weiricks presentation1

What Was Going Through Your Mind? Whats going through your mind when your running up the side, only 1 man to beat? When he runs fast you'll run faster, can he take the heat? Whats going through your mind when the X is open for the 40 yrd touchdown pass? He catches the ball and you hope this moment will always last.   What are you thinking about when there is a hole the size of Texas on the 28 toss? What are you thinking about when you sack the QB for an 18 yrd loss?   Whats going through your mind when coach is yelling at you for dropping the ball? Why is it that on kickoff you got stopped at the first wall? Coach told your parents before the season that you would most definitely letter. You gotta learn from your mistakes, always making yourself better.   Your a good player, but you got a big nigger head, you think your the best. You don't listen during practice or do the drills, why you so different from all the

rest?   Whats going through your mind when everything starts to go bad? What are you thinking about when you miss what you once had? Your gettin buried in the depth chart, grades slippin, where'd it all go? You start to drink, thinking, who's gonna know?   You weren't a team player, you were only out there for yourself. What was going through your mind when you saw there were no trophies on the

shelf? By: Dj Tanner

Tone- it has a strong tone the poem giving you a feeling it isBecoming really serious. You see how serious he is about coming back From an injury and big of an impact he wants to make when he comes Back. And you get feeling with the words he was saying.

Tough Luck Five straight hours in a battle of minds, only two are left that are waiting to shine.   The dealing is done, and now it’s time for bet number one. As both experts stare a blank one makes his move, and the other calls, feeling smooth.   As 1st, 2nd, and 3rd street flop, a red ace and two black jacks flip up. Anther round of betting is yet to come.   “One chip, two chips, three chips, four.” The player that calls feels really sore.   Fourth street then turns a 10 of clovers while both are still in a stare. Each hoping the other will flare.   By gambling once again, one tries to get under the other skin. Regrettably the competitor calls without any delay.   Now as both minds jump into the river, (King of Spades) the bluffer sees his enemy’s shiver.   “ALL-IN!”   The opponent then folds having no clue, and the winner ecstatically mucks a 7 and a 2. Five senses- winter is a white out it taste like a warm cup of chili it sounds like its freezing everything in place and has no smell to it at all it looks like the devil has taken over And makes you feel freezing and want to cry

Credo- I believe there is something else

entirely going on but no single person can never know it, so we fall in love.

it could also be true that what we use everyday to open cans was something much nobler, that we’ll never recognize

I believe the women sleeping beside me doesn’t care about what’s going on outside, and her body is warm with trust which is a great beginning
