2015-2016 10th Grade

Mission Statement of the Franklin Countt School Board:The Mission of the Franklin County School System is to provide students theopportunity to achieve their potential in an environment conducive to optimal learning.

Franklio. Countt School Boaed Goal for Technoloc;y:Goal: Integrate relevant technology into instruction and management to increasestudent and teacher learning, enhance efficiency and prepare both students and teachersfor the future.

Objective: To convert from textbooks to provide optimal learning experiences for thestudents in the district.

Guidelines for 10th Grade

10th grade students who attended Franklin County School during the previousschool year of2014-2015 were assigned a Chromebook for school use. These studentsand parents were made aware of the policies and procedures for the loan of saidChromebook for school use. Students entering the 10th grade for this school year willreceive the same Chromebook that was assigned to them the previous school year whenthe contract documents are signed and returned. Students and parents can read acomplete copy of the Chromebook handbook on the Franklin County Schools website.The following pages in this packet contain a reminder checklist as well as aparent/ student contract. The parent/ student contract must be filled out, signed by boththe parent and student and returned to the Franklin County School where the student isenrolled.

10th Grade Chromebook Checklist

1. Chromebooks are the property of Franklin County Schools and are to beused for school related work.

2. Chromebooks are loaned to each student upon the completion of attachedcontract being signed and returned.

3. Students are to comply with all rules, policies and expectations at all time toretain eligibility to borrow a Chromebook for school use and work.

4. The loaned Chromebook is subject to monitoring of use and the search ofcontents at any time, thus there can be no expectation of privacy.

5. As stated in the FCS Board Policies, compliance with the Acceptable UsePolicy (AUP) is required of all students.

6. Students/parents/guardian assume full responsibility for the safety, security,use and care of the borrowed chromebook.

7. Lost and/or stolen Chromebooks must be reported to the proper authoritieswithin 24 hours. Failure to follow this guideline will result in the student'sbeing financially responsible for replacing the borrowed Chrome book.

8. A user's right to use and possess the borrowed Chromebook terminates nolater than the last day of stated school year unless terminated earlier by FCSfor non compliance of rules or withdrawal from actively attending 10thgrade at a Franklin County School.

9. Students are required to take the Chromebook to each class each day with afully charged battery. It is the student's responsibility to charge theChromebook each night. Failure to charge the Chromebook will result in thestudent being unable to participate fully in the education opportunity of theday and may have to stay after school to make up required class work.

10. Users must respect the intellectual property rights of others by creditingsources and following all copyright laws.

11. Students are to treat this equipment with as much care as if you had purchasedit with your own money.

12. The Chromebook is borrowed and must not be changed in any way includingthe outside case appearance as well as the operating systems.

13. If a student is on an athletic team or involved in a club, the student mustcontact the coach or the sponsor for the proper place to store the Chrome bookwhile practicing or attending club activities,

14. No one but the assigned student should be allowed to use the Chromebook.The Chromebook is on loan to a specific student for school work only. TheChromebook must remain in the possession of the assigned student at alltimes.

15. Identifying tags must remain undisturbed on the Chromebook. FCS schoolswill keep records and inventory all Chrome books and accessories each year.Each student is responsible for the specific items loaned to him or her.

Franklin County SchoolsChromebook Care and Use

Genecal HandlingThe Chrornebook is a computer and must be handled with care. There are things you can do to makethe Chrornebook last longer and offer you a trouble-free and rewarding learning experience.

CareOne of the best features of the Chrornebook is the fact that it is portable. It enables you to take your

homework and information wherever you go. When transporting the Chrornebook, there are a fewsimple things you can do to protect it.

Do not throw the Chrome book.

Keep the Chrornebook in its protective case at all times.

Keep the Chromebook dry, and protect it from rain and snow and any liquid.

Do not eat or drink near the Chromebook .

Close the lid of the Chrornebook before carrying it from one location to another. This

ensures all mechanical and moving parts are not damaged during transit.

Close the Chrornebook carefully-from the center of the screen---do not slam it shut.

Do not use the Chromebook as a folder to store papers.

Do not insert things, especially metal objects, into the openings of the Chromebook.

At the end of each day the Chrornebook must be plugged in so that the battery is fullycharged for the next day.

CleaningWipe surfaces lightly with a clean, soft cloth.

To keep the screen clean, do not touch the screen with your fingers.

PowerCahlePower Cable should be lined up straight with the connector when inserting and removing.

Be careful not to jerk / pull / twist your Chrornebook around when the cables are attached.

Wtreless InternetYour Chromebook is a wireless only device.A wireless network is required to use the device

There are free wireless ''Hot Spots" in Franklin County including the public library.
