A typìcal British family is a married couple

(husband and wife) with two or three

children. Some people have a "partner".

They live together, but they are not

married. There are a lot of single-parent

famil ies, too.Young adults don't normally

l ive with their parents. They leave home

when they are 1 8 - 21 years old.

My name`s Luis. I l ive with my wife, Mari luz, and our two

children in Madrid, but I was born in Ronda in the south

of Spain. My parents sti l l l ive there. They don't visit us

very often because they don't l ike big cities. We visit

them two or three times a year - at New Year and in the

summer - and when there's a big family celebration l ike

a wedding or a special birthday.

I 've got a lot of aunts and uncles and cousins there, too,

so it's good fun. My grandfather - that's my mother's

father - is sti l l al ive. He's eighty two years old and he

lives with one of my aunts. My other grandparents are

dead now.

I 've got a brother and a sister. My sister l ives in Canada

with her husband. I don't see her very often, but we

send emails and she phones me, too. They've got one

child - a l ittle girl .

My brother is sti l l single. He lives in Madrid, too, so I see

him now and then. Our children love him. They think

Uncle Manolo is cool because he drives a sports car.

2. Answer the following questions

of the interview.

Interviewer: Hi Tara! Thanks for your time. We’ve just got a few questions for you regarding

your university days.

Tara: Ok, no problem.

Interviewer: When you were at university did you have a lot of friends?

Tara: Yeah loads. Everyone was so friendly and we all had so many things in common.

Interviewer: Did you have one particular friend which you got on really well with?

Tara: Yes, my flatmate Andy. He was great. We weren’t on the same course but we both

went to the same uni.

Interviewer: Where did you meet Andy?

Tara: We met at the student bar. I was working as a barmaid and he was working in the

kitchen. We clicked straight away. I think it’s because he was so funny!

Interviewer: How did you come to l ive together?

Tara: Well , at the end of the first year I had to move out of my flat and I was desperately

trying to find someone else to l ive with when Andy told me he was in the same situation.

So it seemed right to move in together.

Interviewer: Do you sti l l see Andy?

Tara: No, unfortunately, not at al l . He moved to Hong Kong immediately after finishing the

course and I think he’s only been back once since then.

Interviewer: Do you keep in contact?

Tara: Yes, of course, we send each other an email from time to time and we use facebook

to stay in contact. I know that if I ever need anything he’s there for me.

Interviewer: Do you keep in contact with other people from your course?

Tara: Some of them I do but with many we have simply drifted apart. We all lead different

l ives now. Some are married and some have children!
