In an office, proper room acoustics is a key factor to work performance and employee well-being. In a classroom, acoustically impaired settings lead to decreased attentionand reduced cognitive ability. In a restaurant or auditorium, acoustically uncomfortablespaces can spoil the best occasion.

It is difficult to imagine any well-designed interior space used for communication and social interaction that does not take acousticperformance into account.

Unika Vaev has collaborated with the Denmarkbased company Fraster to offer a collection ofacoustical wool felt products that provide multiple functional and aesthetical wall andfloor treatment solutions to effect sound absorption and sound diffusion in a wide range of interior spaces. Our purpose is to minimize noise distraction while maintainingthe benefits that human interaction brings towork and social environments.

Designed by Masoud Alavi and Kim Fridbjorg, Twister embraces artistic beauty while offering superiorsound absorption. This carefully handcrafted, patterned wool felt acoustic panel collection is pleasing to both the eye and the ear (NRC rating between .65 and .95).

Wool is a natural acoustic insulator that limits the spread of sound. In addition, wool absorbs manyharmful pollutants from the air and is resistant to bacteria, mold and mildew. Wool is difficult to ignite,has a low flame spread and has superior self-extinguishing qualities. All of these qualities facilitate theuse of wool felt in custom acoustical wall solutions.

Space Cover and Glass Cover Double add a unique dimensionalaesthetic for both glass walls andlarge open spaces. Glass Cover Double consists of 5 mm felt andSpace Cover consists of 2 layers of 3 mm felt, both with pattern cutoutsthat provide an elegant play of colorfrom the underlying felt. A customcolor effect can be achieved in both products by inserting 5mm accentcolors in the pattern cutouts. SpaceCover has an NRC of .40. GlassCover is rated with an NRC of .20.

Wool felt cleans easily because theoutside surface of the wool fiber consists of a series of overlappingscales (similar to the feathers on abird), which causes dirt to sit on the surface of the fiber, thereby making it easy to remove.

Covers mounted with magnets presents a design solution for areaswith large expanses of glass. This 100% wool felt product limits sound reflection on glass walls (NRC of .15)without significant obstruction to light.

Covers may be installed with an adjustable length wire in the following ways: (a) wire and screw in ceiling, (b) wire with hook and track or (c) wire with hook and eyelet magnet. Alternatively, Coverscan be installed using (d) a wall mounted track or (e) a ceiling mounted track, that both incorporate (f) a panel carriage with hook and loop in the track system.

Spazer is a first response to retro-fitting office benching or other open-plan systems that require a reductionin ambient noise. Absorbent wool feltscreens of 23.6” – 82.7” widths and19.7” height are readily attached tohorizontal surfaces using the universal Spazer runner attachment.

ZigZag is a folding portable personalacoustical screen that provides aquick solution to quiet an area or just a fun way to decorate an office.Five lengths are available with a standard height of 15".

Design your own rug pattern or startfrom Fraster's standard patterns and then select from 31 colors to find the felt rug thatperfectly suits your interior design. Companylogos can be embedded in the carpet andedge stitching assures dimensional stability.Slip free EVA backing is applied to secure safe installation.

Wool generates very little static electricity because of the qualities of its natural fibers.Static attracts lint, dirt, and dust, so woolfelt’s anti-static properties keep it muchcleaner for longer periods of time.
