Communion Celebration

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper Invitation – We celebrate an open communion meaning that any-one who professes Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is invited to share in the Lord’s Supper. Approach to Communion Pastor: Christ has won! In his death He defeated everything which frustrates us. In His resurrection He was victorious over death and opened eternal life for us. Now in His living presence He offers us all we need to live the abundant life in Him. People: We come because we have a great need for Christ and a great Christ for our needs! Pastor: Come to the Lord’s Table. His body was broken for you that you may be made whole; His blood was shed that you might be forgiven and be reconciled with God forever. People: We do not presume to come to the Table trusting in our own goodness or righteousness, but in Christ alone. We are lonesome for Him, afraid without Him, able to do all things only through Him. Pastor: He is here as He promised! Come, let us celebrate. *Apostles Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit born of the Vir-gin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilot, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descend-ed into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

Communion Instructions COVID -19 Style For this communion today, the pastor will share all of the words of the distribution of the Bread and cup liturgy at one time. Those that are watching and participating at home via online will take communion at this time. For in-person communion an usher will indicate to each row of participants when you may go the front of church and take communion. From your communion station, bread will be placed in your hand and juice placed before you in a cup. (the cup is disposed of after taking communion in a waste basket by your communion station). You will be guided back to your seat.

Distribution of the Bread and Cup The Bread Pastor: The bread which we break is the communion of the body of Christ. Pastor: The Lord Jesus, the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them saying, “Take, eat, this is My body which is broken for you; this do in remembrance of Me.”

The Cup Pastor: The cup of blessing which we bless is the communion of the blood of Christ. Pastor: After the same manner also, He took the cup, when they had supped, saying “This cup is the new testament in My blood; this do as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Our Communion Thanksgiving Response Pastor: We praise and thank you, O Lord. People: That you have fed us at your table. We are grateful for your gifts and mindful of the communion we have shared together. Pastor: We are reminded that you, O God, did not spare your own Son, but gave him up for us all and will also give us all things with him. People: Therefore with my mouth and heart I will praise the Lord from this time forth and forevermore. Amen. Pastor: Let us pray. We praise and thank you, O Lord that you have fed us at your table. Grateful for your gifts and remembering the communion we have just shared, keep our hearts and minds in Jesus Christ your Son and our only Savior. Amen.

Everyone is invited to join us for a luncheon immediately following the morning worship service today in the Gathering Place. There will be 2 lines for serving. If you head out of the sanctuary from the back (south) please

use the west serving line and for those exiting from the front (north) please use the east serv-ing line.

There are also individuals that will be assisting if you need help with your tray and drinks.
